40 weeks
Right on the money. I can’t believe my little guy is here!! I am madly, completely, totally in love.
So.. this is how it went down.
I tested the oven theory.
“Cleaning the oven or floors always induces labor” so I cleaned some of the baseboards and did a TON of cleaning at home.
I went to bed that night feeling contractions. I hate to say the people that told me that would work were right, buuuuut they were right.
So I called my mom that morning. She brought me to the hospital because the contractions were a little crazy. They told me I was only 2 cms dilated at 10 am. Mmmkay.
So, I waited it out. Did a ton of walking and felt these bad bad contractions where I had to stop and sit down or lay down. Mom and I did a ton of errands...
So when I went home, I relaxed a little, but contractions were getting worse and worse. I went to the same hospital and they said I was about 3 cms dilated.
Soooo I took her advice and got Benadryl. Yeahhhhh shouldn’t have done that. So now the Benadryl has kicked in... I’m basically on the floor, standing up, walking around, ANYTHING, with these crazy contractions.
So I call the hospital. They tell me to keep timing them and wait for the 5 minute mark. The way I felt... I wasn’t waiting for SHIT.
So I knew that I wouldn’t make it the night with those contractions... so we went.
We pulled into the ER section and got in right away.
I’m sitting in the room trying to answer questions about my medical history while also going through the sharpest contractions ever... they were really understanding though. Letting me breathe and take my time.
So from getting there at 1:30 to finally getting in a labor room at 3:45... I’m finally getting the epidural.
What a surreal experience.
This woman with bright blonde hair opens the door with the equipment and tools needed for the epidural. I said “you are an angel”. She responded back with “that’s not the first time I’ve heard that.”
So they start putting the needle in my back. She tells me to tell her if it’s slipping to the left or right as she’s going up my spine with it.
She moved it to the left and I told her right away. Fun experience.
So I’m in way over tired mode. Idk what to do... every 30 minutes there’s a new doctor or nurse in the room. So no sleep for me. Boyfriend was snoring away like a madman even when it came time to push.
From 4 am to 6 pm. I dilated to 7 cms.
8/9 am, I was fully dilated and it was time to push.
My sister came and she helped hold my legs. She was amazed at the entire process... along with me, this baby being my first baby.
After about 50 pushes I was able to get my little cute boy out. What a strange feeling labor is. You have to be in sync with them and it really feels like you’re pushing a little bartering ram out. Going “heave” “ho” with each push.
So at 10:22 the little squirt was evacuated. And even though this whole first week has been trying, he is the most precious and wonderful thing I’ve ever seen. <3
