If you did the headband in the avatar azula fic how would she be able to get into the fire nation school? I mean I think her accidently making Katara jealous by dancing with girls would be cute but how would she sneak in? I think they would easily recognize azula if she was in fire nation clothes unless she like cuts her hair or something.

This is why I left it out because it didn't make sense but in a disconnected one shot I can think of one option off the top of my head.
So before the invasion they want to find out what defences the Fire Nation will have in place for the eclipse. Sokka hears a teenage boy bragging about his dad being a general so they make a plan try and get more information.
They settle on Katara going to the local school because Azula is absolutely not allowed to. Katara could actually learn more about Fire Nation culture (And is shocked when a text book mentions Azula by name?)
Katara manages to get an invite the general son's party which they think will be a good chance to search for intel but Azula is intensely jealous that the guy thinks that Katara is his date
Azula sneaks into the party and is jealous when she sees Katara dancing with the guy (she is distracting him while Sokka goes into his dad's office)
By some miracle no one recognises Azula because she looks nothing like the images in the text books, so Katara takes the opportunity to dance with her
