Chrysaora quinquecirrha, aka “Atlantic sea nettle,” aka “beautiful and mysterious jelly” nearly double their velocity and acceleration when prey are present. One of their favorite delicacies is the bioluminescent ctenophore, Mnemiopsis leidyi, who can increase their swimming speed six-fold to evade C. quinquecirrha’s stealthy tentacles.
