cursed child except rose’s intelligence and quick-thinking is actually put to use and she joins al and scorp towards the end and finds a magical ( but logical ) counter-spell to d*lphi’s scientific time-travel plan and we get to see albus, scorpius, and rose work out their differences throughout the four acts and realize that they can all get along despite their personality quirks

                  I am not lying or an imbecile! Regulus isn’t convinced, but he doesn’t say so. He almost begins to pity this person for having gotten himself trapped up in knots but, then, it’s not really Regulus’ fault.

                  “You’re not making any sense.” And he’s less confused than he was before; but maybe that’s the point. Maybe that’s what this strange boy is trying to do. The worst of it is that he doesn’t really look like he’s lying per se—he just looks extraordinarily confused. So when he says ‘point me in the direction of your brother’ it strikes Regulus that he’s never actually met Sirius before. And if he’s never met Sirius before, then how has Sirius put him up to the prank? It could be Potter, James as the mastermind, but then he’s not sure what the point of it is if Sirius isn’t in on the joke. And, anyways… there isn’t a person left alive who can know James and not Sirius.

                He’s tying his head in circles.

this is very uncomfortable and awkward. albus doesn't like it. as cursed as 2020 is, there's no expectation of him speaking to anyone at all. he can stay in his room all day and call it good. if rose were here, she would've already talked herself out of this situation.

too bad he isn't rose. it seems only one person in the entire family is allowed brain cells, and he... didn't win that lottery. that's all he can say.

     ❛ i'm visiting from... bulgaria, ❜ albus says wildly, because his single brain cell can't think of any other place to say. a moment later, he curses himself. he doesn't even know any cities in bulgaria. all he knows is that durmstrang is there. what if this regulus actually knows some basic geography? damn, albus is fucked.

but ‘bulgaria’ is a better answer than ‘the year 2020′, so he just lets that sink in for a moment. man. he doesn't even know what a bulgarian accent is supposed to sound like.

Alaric nodded thinking over the others words, “people respond differently to trauma.” He signed and furrowed his brows in thought. “Maybe he’s still trying to make sense of it and thinking about it like that.. might give some more sense of control.” He signed shrugging. He knew of course his own history with his upbringing he was always on edge always waiting for the other shoe to drop unable to think otherwise even when he wasn’t at home. His mind was still fixated on home. Even if and when it wasn’t active on his mind.. his body was holding all the tension.

Many never knew what to say when they found out something happened or when he lost his voice.. but the feeling of the stares was there.. the uneasiness where they’d start to approach but then back off unable to find what words to say or how to treat him going forward, instead there was the stares and whispers.. the friends he once had that now thought it best to avoid afraid of getting on the wrong persons bad side. The last thing he’d imagine anyone wanted after going through a hardship was such treatment.. it felt even worse and that was not something he wanted Scorpius to go through. His eyes brightened in that moment seeing a crack of a smile on the youngers face.

“Well the important thing is for him to not shut anyone out you know we can push people away when we need them most and it’s human nature for most of us to want to believe the best.. or maybe he was projecting.. in some way searching for something.. I mean the only one who really knows is Albus and I’m sure in his own time hopefully he’ll come to terms with it all.. but there’s no real time table for these things.” Alarics didn’t mind listening in fact it made him feel good to know that Scorpius felt like he could come to him With it. In fact, he admired the other for being able to do so and get it off his chest rather than stuff it down. Alaric wasn’t good at opening up.. it seemed..wrong, he knew it wasn’t he knew he should. But for so long he had no one, no friends simce his dad didn’t let him go to school before age 11, he couldn’t talk to his mum since she well wasn’t much of a mother, Dad clearly was not the answer. Nodding he sighed, “it might be a defense to try and make a sense of it where there might be no answers.. if you like we can research some trials get a sense of how it might go.. even the tiniest information might be helpful.. I know of some but.. those were muggle trials.” He signed shrugging, of course being mugglborn.

His eyes sharpened and softened immediately and seemed to spark when he asked about his mum. He hadn’t been expecting that but offered a tired smile. Things were not okay. The last time he had to go home did not go well.. to say the least. He still had the physical marks left from the vile head of the Parker Estate. The man who zeroed in on him the moment he stepped into the foyer. It happened quickly and despite the injuries he was at least able to get her out but not before oblviating her first. She was declining fast holding onto the guilt of throwing her son under the bus, of not being a mum, and Alaric knew she’d been in danger in more ways than one. It devestated him seeing the familiarity leave her eyes but at least she was out of that house and somewhere safe that left.. him. Alaric couldn’t go home after he ended that mans life that night.. he didn’t intend it to go that far. The blade was close to his chest and with a harder slam and crack against the wall the man crumpled. He was already being looked for.. dad has many connections and so with bloodied hands he apparated from his muggle town where he grew up and collapsed on the Hogwarts grass , with now no family or home. “Mum is.. safe now..” he signed his eyes now clouded over. “She.. she found some friends.. I try to check in.. from a distance.. she wouldn’t remember me otherwise I’m afraid”. He signed biting his lip. “I’m.. doing better.” He signed rubbing the back of his neck. He felt his lungs might scream at him as his chest constricted.

scorpius listened. he listened because it was expected in a two-way conversation ( and he knew that from his experience with many one-way conversations ) and he listened because listening with your eyes was easier than listening with your ears. more specifically, listening with ears hurt when the voice belonged to polly chapman or—or dolores umbridge or delphi diggory. and it was horrible because it shouldn't hurt, but it did; circumstances had made it so. and it hurt because most people communicated using their voices. and it hurt because they could say some of the most heartbreaking things with those voices.

scorpius felt his heart sink, if only because alaric was being too understanding—the kind of understanding that concerned scorpius, because it suggested a personal familiarity with the situation—or something similar. and all scorpius could think of was that terrible witch and the unfortunate circumstances in which he'd gotten to know her. thank goodness alaric hadn't. more to the point, thank goodness she was now locked up. the only hurdle left was the trial.

scorpius didn't swear, but if he did, he might say something like f*ck that trial. for the moment, he'd go with h*ck that trial. really, though, his heart went out to albus and alaric and–dare he think it?—himself. it was reasonable to grieve a stolen memory and that, alone, would comfort him.

     ❛ don't know how much i can look into trials without freaking myself and albus out over it, but it wouldn't hurt. might actually help us, if anything. ❜ d*lphi had broken... at least ten laws. at the very least. and scorpius didn't want to enumerate them all and enlist alaric's help in detailing every single one of her transgressions, but... seriously. just right off the bat, without thinking about it too hard, scorpius could literally rattle off like twenty horrible things she'd done. using crucio on him was only the tip of the iceberg.

and albus was still obsessed with her. that warranted another f*ck, as a treat.
