i think about the day he proposed a lot. he drove 12 hours from georgia to texas to move in with me after transferring to remote work within his company. i was just happy to see him and have him there, just for him to propose right in the parking lot. it sent me over the moon.
later that night, we showered together and i was playing the playlist i had made him for valentine's day the month before. a song i've heard probably a thousand times since i was 13, "Complicated" by Nivea came on. i wrapped my arms around him and cried the whole song. i was overwhelmed with emotions.. I never felt relief like that before. i found this man so soon after asking my ex for a divorce and he has just been such a breath of fresh air, for real. he came in from day one ready to love me and make my life easier. love has never been this easy. this peaceful. this calm. of course like everyone else, we've had our difficulties but we both want this to work so we work at it. i'm so happy. i'm thankful i never turned my heart off from love or it would have never been open to receive this. i'm grateful for all the times people showed me what love isn't, because it gave me the ability to recognize what it is. it's this. it's him. my mama love him. my kids love him. i love him.
