Thorin, the Eagles..

thorin certainly tried to keep himself busy in the twenty minutes it took for bryn to get to his place. but it was all a bit pointless really. how could he focus on work when bryn occupied his mind for so much of the time? for not the first time, thorin thought about how much easier it would all be if they just lived together already. there would be no real missing each other. thorin wouldn’t have to suffer the lonely nights when they both had to be up too early the next day to really spend the night. it’d be different if they lived together. he sighed, shaking his head and deciding to move from his home office to instead tidy up the kitchen a little. anything to keep his mind occupied. he wasn’t sure what was worse really– the gnawing thoughts of their future… or the OTHER thoughts that often invaded his mind, drawing up a smirk on his lips. 

soon enough, there was that knock on the door and a smile made it’s way across thorin’s face as he moved toward it. opening the door, it felt like a wave of relief and… well, if he were being honest– seeing bryn always felt like coming home. like BELONGING. of course, he’d never speak such words out loud, not without some arm twisting. 

instead he just smiled and stepped aside. “a few more minutes and i might not have made it.” 

“I think you would’ve been fine. You’re so dramatic.”

Bryn laughed as he stepped inside, taking his jacket off and hanging it up before he leaned up to press a kiss to Thorin’s cheek. He had to admit, coming to see Thorin always made him feel a bit lighter, but how could it not? He was in love, terribly so, but it was a wonderful feeling. So he just grinned, arms wrapping around Thorin’s neck as he stood on his toes to give him a little kiss.

“How is it possible to use that love against you when I am simply asking for you to demonstrate your love for me?”

Thorin wasn’t the least surprised by the teasing. This was his Hobbit, after all, and honestly he would have been a little disappointed had Bilbo simply given in and kissed him exactly as Thorin had wished. In truth, he would not have his husband any other way. 

Sinking into the warmth of Bilbo’s arms around him, Thorin affected a momentary pout, appearing as if the brief kiss did not appease him at all. “That is how you show your love for me? I might as well have asked the same from an Elf.” He huffed, though his eyes twinkled with undisclosed pleasure.  “No. I fear your king is not satisfied, little Hobbit. Not in the least.”

“Oh, how did I know that that is what you were going to say?”

A small smirk appeared on Bilbo’s face, eyes full of mischief. Oh, how he enjoyed teasing the hell out of Thorin whenever he got the chance. It was just amusing to him! So he snickered, tugging Thorin back down to press another kiss to his lips, longer this time. In fact, he even indulged in tangling a hand into the dark locks, gripping a bit tightly.

despite the teasing tone, a softness came over thorin and he sighed– glad bryn couldn’t see the dopey smile on his lips. “yeah, i suppose i do.” truth be told, bryn’s smile always made thorin’s heart flutter. how on earth he’d managed to break through his walls and cause all of this, thorin didn’t know. it just… happened. “mmm, i suppose i’ll HAVE to just wait and suffer for twenty minutes won’t i? i guess it’ll teach me a little patience. hopefully i’ll last.” 

“Either you’ll last or you’ll die before I get there. The former is the most desirable of the two options. I’ll see you in twenty minutes, okay? Love you.”

thorin sat up a little straighter from where he had been slumped at his desk, attempting to work from home. “alright you might not be laughing but i know when you’re smiling. stop it.” thorin pouted a little before his own grin broke out. “would you have me any other way? BESIDES, you’re hardly one to speak of impatience, bryn.”

“Stop it? Why would I stop it? Don’t you like it when I smile?” Bryn snickered, clicking his tongue at Thorin’s words. “I know I’m impatient. But that’s just how I am, you see. You, however, need to learn patience, don’t you?” A small smirk, and he shrugged his jacket on.

Okay, he’s just going to call him because this is silly.
