Perhaps I have grown a fool. For sure, I doubt that any creature with a bit more intelligence and wittiness than it would take a normal being. Perhaps my brash actions have damaged its brain. it must be it.

My own pet, the one which I have grown accustomed to its strange episodes of independence, has asked me to let it go.

Rich, isn’t it? Let it go, because it no longer feels safe around its master, and it no longer wants its family to stay close to me. I am more amazed that it managed to form a family on its own than at the request, in all honesty.

The answer was simple, and its trust was appreciated - but the gesture was naive. it could have ran away and never came back, but I do suppose that a pet never ends up much farther away from their master. They’re all leashed to my wrist.

The fallen which I have been entertaining myself with has been moved into the catacombs, safely locked in place with silver chains. I know his strenght, and while it amuses me, he could begin to cause trouble thanks to his oratory skills. 

In my last visit, I hadn’t noticed that the pet snuck behind me and roamed down the stairs on all fours, curious and intraprendent as usual. As I made my way downstairs, I enthralled myself with the usual torture routine on a particulary noisy captive, washing my hands in a bucket of water. I don’t really wish to dirt my garnments with filthy blood.

At some point during the procedure, I noticed that it was missing just after the water was clean and replenished. And when I turned, much to my aghast self, the pet had snatched it away.

It was holding the head of the fainted fallen on its lap, and washing his bloody face clean from sweat and the almighty knows what else. And as soon as he woke up, he spoke its name up. ‘Simy’, a combination of letters she struggled to perform.

I watched this interaction with wide eyes, leering as he chugged down he water that I should have used until he was no longer thirsty, resting into the pet to catch a break from the tortures.

It seems to have forgot that I was in the middle of my daily task. 

And when I asked it what it was doing, it pointed at itself with a large grin and stated that ‘it was helping’.

I admit, this time it got the worst out of me. That such a low creature could ruin my work by trying to act nice was such a disrespectful action that i made my blood boil.

And the best punishment is letting it rot alone. I can still hear its desperate, feminine cries disturbing my sleep as she cries for me and for my presence.

It seems to have its own personality, after all. It refuses to look at me, but scuttles behind me when it wants to be aknowledged… which has a grotesque effect, considering that it has a fully developed female body. It was naked, until it disappeared for a few days to return with a loose, blue sweater draped around its body. It seems to want something from me, but my mood has been foul since I have lost a powerful ally to this… being with the mentality of a needy child.

It tried to crawl around my leg as I was leaving, so I simply kicked it away from my person as hard as I could - mostly to see its reaction to being manhandled. I was standing up when it tried to latch onto me, so it made me almost lose my balance. I put little force in the kick, however sufficient.

It seemed surprised to see it arrive: its body impacted with the wall with enough force to crack it. After this, it remained unmoving and presumably fainted.

I studied its features, making a mental note about how angelic it looks compared to the other demons I administer. Golden hair, peaceful face and long lashes, freckles littering its face.

I can see their essences struggling to overcome eachother, but not the movements. It is almost as the stronger presence is trying to block me out, to not see the result of this banter: rather peculiar, but there was an attempt that I admire. I can hear the pet screaming for its life while clawing at the other form, but… I do not doubt that it won’t be victorious.

It is too fresh of a soul, to begin with. If we’d like to split hairs and analyze the situation, then we do not have an even match. I admit, this was just to see who would have prevaled… but I’d certantly prefer if the witch was the one to survive. I would, without hesitation, invite her to my side – she’s emanating nothing but hatred from her pores, and I have never seen such brutal swings being taken at a being, unless it was me with an unfortunate host.

I desire her as my ally.

… Yet, the pet was the one that came out victorious. I saw a darker figure being thrown in the deepest pit of their shared mind, it’s currently grasping its chest, struggling for air and for the wounds the witch has inflicted to it. It is calling for my help, for my real name.

… How did it knew?

And I am in no mood to coddle it. It can heal itself while growing accustomed to the body.

The only corpse that I have found it’s the one of a young witch, which was buried alive some millennias ago. It’s living, clawing at its life with every inch of its being - I harbor great respect for witches, useful members of ancient kind. I would almost let her out and alive, free of consuming the world with her chaos bringers and minions - but my new pet needs a body, after all. I want to see if this lively soul can be effective in a… shared body.

Another experiment, I suppose.

She has joined us shortly. I held her soul and healed the ripples and murk surrounding it, but the body was damaged by the substances and the heavy ingestion of liquors. Little matters, as I will obviously be able to find her a new vessel.

Right now, the soul remains in my custody.

Exploring the overworld is difficult.

Most of the bodies I am finding are rotten, and this soul is fresh and in need of a dire, young home such as itself. My reasons for such a choice are various, but I do feel quite some sympathy for this little one. Despite its mangling, it’s holding itself together quite well, floating about the room and around my head.

Such a lively one must be deserving of an appropriate body. It is fun seeing it scuttle around me, like an overly excited pet.
