oh hell

      her brows raise, hands placed delicately at her hips. her son knows her well enough to know she will not prise the information out of him. but equally, she expects it to be volunteered. “lucien.” the queen tuts impatiently. 

there was a beat of silence that filled the air around them as he looking at his mother, his gaze never waver. he knew there wasn’t much he could do, even more so given the glint in his eyes. ❝ fine. ❞ he let out a small huff. ❝ a certain merprincess might be staying with me. ❞ half truth, because it wasn’t just that, there was the pregnancy too but he knew it was a heavy topic both for him and dani, therefore he would only tell when she was ready.   

now more than ever, daniella couldn’t help but wish she had told him about the other pregnancies as they happened. not only had he deserved to know, she also felt as if things would have been much different had he known. maybe not good different, there was always that possibility, but she knew it would’ve been… easier to deal with it all with him by her side. of course, she couldn’t go back in time and change things ( nor could she forget the one time she did tell him and it ended with her leaving in the middle of the night without so much as a goodbye because she couldn’t handle the expression on his face whenever he looked at her ). what she could do was focus on the present, on the fact that he was here now, telling her that they would do everything in their power, making her feel a bit less scared. they were stronger together, and together they would remain. giving a nod in response to his words, the mermaid turned her head to the side so she could bury it in his neck again, inhaling his scent and closing her eyes briefly as she willed herself to relax before pulling away as he leaned back. ❝ are you sure? because i’m positive that you were a merman in a past life. ❞ she teased with a small grin. at his next words, her lips parted slightly. ❝ are you asking me to move in with you? ❞ it seemed obvious enough, but she needed the confirmation. what they had was complicated, to say the least, but there was no doubt in her heart that she wanted to be with him. that she loved him. ❝ lucien, i… thank you. for being so wonderful about this. you lost too, and i know it can’t be easy for you, either. ❞

     “ really ? ” she raised her eyebrows, looking back at the flowers for a moment before a smile spread across her lips. “ guess i got that from you. ” she looked up at lucien, a proud look on her face. linking her arm with his, she tried to move him towards the garden. “ stay for a bit, will you ? we can work on the garden together and talk a bit ? please. ”

Her features instinctively softened at the sight of Lucien, the seriousness to them instantly replaced with a playful raise of her brow. “Perhaps make an effort next time, hm? It would be interesting to know if you’re actually improving.” Vex had given him plenty of leeway as a child, a side effect of that comical mischief that would follow him believing he had bested a knight. Yet she’d still taught him…aspects, his interest only kept by the offer of using his scholars as target practice. It would be amusing to see what he retained, if anything. Eventually letting him go, she hummed faintly at the nod to their current surroundings. “Well you know, I at least wanted you to feel at home when I won, Lucien.”

he let out a gasp, a hand reaching up to rest against his own chest in feigned offense. ❝ you wound me. ❞ he hummed, lips turned downward in what should resemble some kind of pout. a pout that lasted only a couple of seconds before a laugh slipped past his lips, a grin slowly settling upon his features. he knew he had been quite sloppy, far from how he usually stalked his preys, how he made them believe they were safe till the last second. ❝ my kill score would say that i’m exceptional in the subject. ❞ he wasn’t one to boast about his doing but at the same time he still was quite proud of it. ❝ nothing says home more than a dirty alley forsaken by the gods. ❞ he snorted. expression softening when he spoke once more. ❝ i’ve missed you. ❞

“  y - you  know  ,  ”  the warlock started  ,  teeth biting down on her nail  ,  “  you’re out here too  .  i - it’s not just me  .  what are you doing  ?  ”  a way to redirect the conversation away from her  .

Vexalia felt the presence far before anything else. She wasn’t usually so on edge, but with the mundane world on the brink of war and a Queen to protect, things that seemed insignificant mere months ago had her on high alert now. It wasn’t until she was halfway down an alley that she finally made her move, a hand coming to rest at the concealed gun tucked into her jeans as she spun around to push said person against the wall. “Why are you following me?”  

he knew that she was aware of his presence, not only because she was that good but also because the seelie prince didn’t really tried to be subtle with his movements or light with his steps. there was a grin spreading across his lips, wide and almost too happy when his back hit the wall. ❝ ah, finally. ❞ he chuckled, head tilting to the side. ❝ and here i was waiting to see how long you’d let me follow you without saying anything. ❞ another chuckle left his lips before he spoke once again. ❝ at least you picked a nice alley. ❞      

“I’m not in the mood for pleasantries.What do you want?” Merlin had just killed another member from the knights on the round table and this one had hurt more than the others. He was the youngest knight and was one of the closest to Merlin besides Arthur.

     “ mhm. ” serena hummed as a reply, having forgotten about all the chaos and misery for the moment now that lucien was here, a smile plastered on her face. “ a girl gotta keep herself busy and i realized it’s been a long while since i did this. ” as she could recall, the last time was also with lucien, who taught her all she knew about gardening. when he used his magic she grinned, shaking her head. “ oh – you know i love cheating with magic. ” 

there was a wave of security, warmth and home that hit her when lucien pulled her closer that she couldn’t ( and didn’t want to ) ignore. just like lucien was one constant in her life, the way he made her feel also fell into that category. in the beginning, a mutual annoyance, that even back then inspired a passion within her unlike anything or anyone else. now, a love so big that she felt as if she could drown in it, even if her body had been made for the water, even if she belonged in it. he had always been special to her, in one way or another. regardless of what happened, she had him. that was what she had to remind herself through all the panic and the fear. their bodies were almost one, and yet, she wanted him to be closer still. a part of her wanted to ask how this time was different than the last, but her real name coming from his lips ripped her of any questions; momentarily, of any worries. it didn’t last considering she had to be pulled back to reality whether she liked it or not, but the mere fact that he was capable of such thing amazed her. ❝ i know, lucien. i know. ❞ she muttered, placing a soft kiss to his neck. there was no doubt in her mind that if it was up to him, to them, everything would be okay, but she appreciated that he didn’t make a promise he couldn’t keep. a single tear rolled down her cheeks when his hand rested on her stomach, her whole body reacting to the touch, a shiver running down her spine. ❝ i suppose the ocean isn’t a valid answer. ❞ there was the tiniest hint of a smile on her lips. ❝ i don’t know, actually. i don’t have a place on land. ❞

     too focused on the task of taking care of the flower decorations outside of markus’ place that she decided to work on and distract herself from real life, at first she failed to recognize who was calling out to her. “ hm ? ” raising her head, she dropped the scissors in her hand immediately, running towards the seelie prince. “ dad… ”

Wangji let out a lot sigh. “But you shouldn’t expose yourself like that either.” Wanji looked at him. “You have her eyes.”  Even though Wangji refused to make contact with them. 

❝ it’s not much of exposing if my reputation precedes me. ❞  he hummed, his usual lazy smirk tugging at his lips. ❝ and hiding is almost as a disgraceful act as losing. ❞ he added, with a chuckle. ❝ mh, i’ve been told that. ❞   

KAYN’S EYEBROWS KNIT, vexation clear on his countenance, but he quickly schooled his features and turned his attention to the rather attentive bartender instead. The man at his side clearly wasn’t interested in his regaling, and Kayn wasn’t about to force him to listen. He himself was known for being rather brusque and discourteous at times, so he couldn’t exactly judge another for their attitude. It pissed him off all the same. ❝Didn’t say you should care, did I? I was just saying. I’ll say it to someone else.❞

he didn’t miss it, the irritation that even for just a moment crossed the other person’s features, how could he? he lived long enough to become able to pick up the slightest changed in others’ demeanor. it’s what made the seelie enjoying messing around with people just that much more. with a tilt of his head, a slow smirk started to pull at the corner of his mouth. ❝ maybe. ❞ he hummed, a chuckle following afterward. ❝ but you still assumed, mh. otherwise what was the point of wasting so much breath. ❞ 

“The dead?” Wangji raised his eyebrows. He looked around the venue. “No one appears to be deceased.” Wangji paused and looked at him. There was something familiar about the other. “Do I know you?”

it took a lot for the seelie to not just sigh and roll his eyes, he could somehow understand if mundanes didn’t understand what was happening but, ❝ our specie may have flaws but blindness to our surrounding has never been one. ❞ he hummed, brow raising. ❝ well, considering who my mother is. ❞
