Meet Fan Mogul Eric Ratcliffe. David and I discovered Eric at New York Comic Con in 2013. Of the more than 125,000 fans in attendance, Eric stole our hearts.  He is well known throughout the Comic Podcasting Community, Host/Producer at Why I Love Comics and Co-Creator/Writer at New Comic Day.  Eric has interviewed many of his heroes,  and attends various Cons on a regular basis to promote his projects.  He is an entrepreneur and we find him to be down-right ‘Cool’  —  and that is why Eric was selected to be a ‘Fan Mogul’ for Season 1 of our upcoming series.

From Fandom to Fame — this could be YOU!!

ATLANTA, 07 May 2014—The New Zealand-based props and special effects company, most popularly known for their roles in the “Lord of the Rings/Hobbit” movie franchises, has joined a strong community of people and organizations supporting the “Fan Moguls” docu-reality effort.

“Fan Moguls” is the latest project from Producer/Director Velva Carter and A Gypsy Life… Productions. The series will approach fan-based communities from a unique angle, and shed light on the impact television, movies, games, and more have on creating such influential cultures.

Ms. Carter is ecstatic by the added support from Weta. “We’ve worked with them in the past,” she said. “Everyone at Weta represents the heart of our series. We’re delighted to have them on board and look forward to promoting their projects within our own.”

The promotional efforts from Weta include coming to the project’s aid in response to obtaining necessary items for production. Ms. Carter continues: “ ‘Fan Moguls’ is about fandom. Most of our cast and crew are fans themselves, especially of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit communities. It’s only fitting to tip our hats to a company responsible for inspiring thousands of cosplayers, not to mention the enormous fan club whose members were credited in the trilogy’s DVD releases. Weta knows what we’re about.”

Indeed, Weta’s recent contribution to the project has come at the opportune moment. The crew are finishing up with final preparations for the production of their teaser trailer and pilot episode, to be filmed later this month. Though much is being kept quiet about the show’s specifics, Ms. Carter hinted that viewers can definitely expect to find Middle Earth easter eggs scattered throughout the series.

Hey Fans! Screenwriter Zae checking in. Last night was another of our writers team pre-production meetings. As always, it went well, but this time we made a MAJOR breakthrough on finalising the script for our Sizzle—that means the teaser for the show is one step closer to the actual production phase!
