midnight munchies with Smudge i recently got rid of my smart phone for a flip phone and I have some pros and cons. pros: - I don't doomscroll nearly as much. a. I still have an ipad and laptop for work and art, so it requires more effort to go onto social media. I have control over what i'm seeing and have to be more intentional about what I want to see when logging into a whole laptop or breaking out the ipad. b. I have a lot more time to do anything else. read, journal, doodle. Sometimes its nice to just be bored. Go be aware of my surroundings while I travel for work or go get groceries. I like that my flip phone can be an mp3 player too, so I can still listen to music, I have Audio Technica Ear Fit Headphones ATH-EQ300M which don't hurt my ears and they're not noise cancelling. I walk outside a lot, so I like being able to hear my surroundings, but this pair lets me feel like there's background music to my life lol. they also fit snug under my earmuffs which is always a cozy win. - I have stronger boundaries around when i'm available. a. when im working (art,housework,work work, etc), I am not scanning through flip phone. I started only checking my phone during snack breaks. b. if I don't have time to type it out on a flip phone or time to discuss in a short phone call, it's gotta wait for a better time in the day. I think this is my biggest pro with the flip phone because I do get to gather my thoughts or sort out whether something i wanna say is actually high importance or not. thumbs cramp up. thumbs get stiff. sometimes I'm just gonna call and not do all that. - flip phone has maps : ) cons: - sometimes other phone user's phones dont send an sms message automatically (they're mms) and i won't receive them. - my phone number was linked to an iphone so sometimes I don't get certain texts (they get intercepted by my laptop) I dont know how and dont know how to stop it. I usually only check my laptop's texts once every week or so which is unfortunate when i see a little unread text. I use it for art and work, not so much for the messenger feature. - if you drop a flip phone crazy enough the battery just flies out.
