A couple months ago, I was searching on the web for a necklace I came across on my Instagram feed. I’ve never seen something so unique, simple, yet elegant. It was a necklace joining three names together. I thought about my family as I gaze and thought of their names in place. What I loved about the necklace’s is each name held together by one chain, but altogether so beautifully. When I found it, I purchased it. I was so excited to wear it. I wore it a few times and one day I decided to take it off before I showered. A couple days went by and I notice the names started to tarnished. I felt discouraged. So, I didn’t put it on. It just didn’t look the same as when I wore it the first time. Here is where I’m going with this story. The things we own or earthly things (treasures) we hold and place value in. Things on earth are not meant to last. When God said, “do not store up for yourselves earthly treasures, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal”. Matt.6:19. He meant earthly things we uphold value for or we put all our feelings into and work so hard for to have. It’s ok, to have and buy nice things, but remember your true eternal value weighs for more than your earthly possessions. Instead, store up your treasures for the Kingdom, not on earth. Your treasures in Heaven are worth far more than your earthy possessions (jewerly, clothes, cars, houses, etc) where rust or thieves can steal. Instead, store up your Kingdom treasures in Heaven by loving your enemies; Praying in secret; Giving to others in need (your gifts). More importantly your salvation and your relationship to no other name under Heaven: Jesus Christ holds your worth and value for eternity forever. When we think about the Trinity: In God the Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. They are the perfect unity (linked) to share eternity with us. Some of us have not gather the understanding that we all don’t look the same, when we see each other, in the flesh. We all have different features that make us unique from each other. Different eyes, nose, hair, or body shape. Some of us, spend too much time criticizing the way we should look or shouldn’t look. Instead, we should judge each other within, by our character, the way we conduct ourselves and treat one another. You can learn more of a person by their character and not judge them based off their looks or appearance. Character is more accurate at proving the qualities of someone rather than what they appear like when we see them in the flesh. Before you judge, seek to understand. Enjoy every new moment. Everyday is a new beginning. I remember years ago when a old friend told me they missed the old me. People evolve and grow everyday. Change is supposed to happened. If I’d stayed the same person I was years ago, would I be where I am today. Probably not! Just like you only turn 21 once. Don’t be afraid to change because it’s leading you to new beginnings. Stop trying to get ahead of God when he has already spoken His promise before you. When we try to get ahead of God, we get ahead of his provision over our life. We step outside of his purpose and we’re are no longer align with his plan — instead of submitting to his will, we question whether or not will his promise follow through and instead of waiting for God to act — because God always follows through after his promise. We try to take our matters into our own hands, by then we are trying to lead by our free will to take control when we should be waiting on God. His timing will not always align with ours and sometimes it may seem that he does. But it’s because he is omniscient about who we are and what we need, when we need it. God acts on His watch, not ours. But when he does he will bring you out (or make a way for you to escape), he will deliver you from your burdens, he will redeem and take you under his mighty hand. What book in the Bible are you /or have you been studying? Currently, I’ve been reading Acts of Apostles. I’ve read up to chapter 13 so far. Quite interesting to read the history and see the form of the church — the first Christian’s. The Apostles we’re about kingdom business and they’d rebuked anyone who tried to detour or stand against their call (divine appointment) to spread the gospel. There was also some opposition happening in the church — some very common issues relatable today. But, that never stop the growth or people being saved. The numbers kept increasing across many nations. Today God’s word is still flourishing and spreading throughout our world. Scripture suggests the importance of strong accountability between Believers. It is important for every Believer to have at least one other person in which to confide, pray with, listen to, and encourage. Are you accountable? Do you have a friend whom you can go to? People are hurting. People are tired. People are afraid. So much is happening around the world and our communities. People are seeking answers for hope and help in their circumstances for things to change. Things are always changing in the world. But, there is one who remains unchanged —God. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. We have to stop normalizing issues that are happening. One thing you cannot normalize is sin. Call it for what it is. Sin is anything that doesn’t abide to or goes against the character of God. So whether it harms us or someone else, every sin is ultimately against a holy God. He hates sin. Period. Every form of it because it goes against hi character. Hate is a form of sin. When we sin against God, or against our neighbor “to harm or hurt them” that’s sin. If you dislike someone for whatever personal reasons to harm them that’s called hate. The Bible tells references of people admitting they sinned against God —and people too. Evil is evil and good is good. Evil and good cannot mix. They are like oils and water they are not the same and don’t mix. When we’ve sinned we’ve steeped out the purpose of which God created us: to live God with all our soul and hearts, because he is love; and to love our neighbors as yourself. You cannot say you love your neighbor next door, but you hate your neighbor across the street. That’s not of God, that’s not loving your neighbor even when you culturally or socially don’t share or hold the same customs. Harming or hating your neighbor is evil —it’s sin. And seeking revenge or retaliation for the person who hurt you is sin too (evil). Harming or hating someone goes against who God is —love. What the world cast as love is not the same love found in John 3:16. It’s not even defined the same in 1 John 4:7-21. His love gave up something for the world. Because of his unconditional act he created us to reflect His image (glory) into our neighbors —so the world can see His love. We don’t know love if we’re not abiding in him.
