“I always wanted to go there,” Paddy mentioned though he didn’t say that idea came from having read Twilight–he would never EVER admit to that to anyone, let alone a very pretty and funny young woman he was starting to get to know. “Sounds like a pain in the ass, but with good food,” he joked with a half smile before getting a small spoonful of Preacher’s food in his mouth and hummed happily. It was hot so he burnt his tongue but he didn’t care and started blowing out smoke from his mouth while eating.  “I’m so sorry but this is great food alright.”

“Uhm, I can help you with that if you want,” Paddy started. “We can get two small ones to make up for the one we cut,” he offered, not sure how she would handle a chainsaw and smiling at her secret keeping line. 

“We love Netflix for that great idea, yes,” he agreed with a small laugh. “Oh the bread-baking knight one, right? They kinda mesh together after a while. And I don’t think I ever watched that one? I should try and find it.”

“it really is nice!” she said earnestly. “the scenery is stunning. i find something so calming about like.. foggy woods. i think that’s what drew me here rather than somewhere else in california. like - i could never live in la. that’s just too much sun.” she laughed as he ate, shaking her head in a way that said no judgement here.

she grinned broadly at his offer, nodding. “i’d love that! my place just doesn’t feel like home without a tree.” she sighed. she leaned forward a little.

“ignoring the assholes? how is that done? sorry, don’t know her,” harry joked with somewhat of a straight face for a split second before letting out a laugh. she was cute and funny. “yeah, i think i’m gonna go with the cheeseburger then, but with fries. i need my carbs,” he teased and shook his head at her next comment. “oh  you got me, that was my plan all along. get you to say yes our of pure pity over my swollen face. kinda worked, didn’t it?” he was surprised with the nudge on his leg but answered with one of his own before getting saved by the waitress wanting to hear their order.

“you are so bias bee,” jonah retorted with a smile, never one to be good at taking compliments. he just thought that doing the right thing and helping others was why we were in this world and he felt so lucky to be working for his boss and be able to help in his food security cruzade. 

“okay, i’ll try not to pass out,” he joked, mocking burying himself in the couch even more while the dog move a little closer to him, only to see the guy move away when she clapped–and no, of course he hadn’t passed out for two seconds there. getting up, he grabbed his coat and wallet and nodded, letting her lead the way. “do we have any grocery stores close? food markets? oh gosh, i’m that person that only talks about work and food, aren’t i?”

bea laughed softly as george hopped from foot to foot eagerly and jonah chattered. patting her pockets to make sure she had her keys, her wallet, and her phone, she pulled the door shut behind them and locked it before leading jonah down the stairs. george tugged along ahead of them, sniffing at everything like he’d never seen it before.
