"but we can talk first. you know, since i'm already here and not in a rush." the casual shrug she gave did little to hide the fact that talking had been her real intention all along. "unless you're too busy for me.”
in truth, youra hasn't been the easiest to track. she lives her life from one obligation to another, often times burying herself in schedules if she hasn't yet. appearances. script reading. performances. the occasional variety show. you name it, it's probably on her own calendar. in the twelve years of being an idol, she has never allowed herself any rest. any true rest. so when aeri managed to pry her away from her professional endeavors, she took it as a blessing in disguise.
"be honest," she says as she shifts just enough to make room for aeri beside her. "in the years you've known me, was i ever one to rest?" a playful scoff follows as she smiles at her, the corners of her eyes crinkling just a bit. the question is a rhetorical at best, aeri knew how much of a workaholic she could really be.
for a moment, youra just listens and observes. the intent behind aeri's invitation doesn't quite go unnoticed, enough for her to let out a small, amused laugh. she decides to play along for now. "god, the dramatics," she says jokingly. "how could i ever be too busy for you?" she adds, her voice riddled with teasing as she lifts a hand to gently pat the girl on the head. it's almost endearing this way, a dongsaeng trying to vie for time. "i have a few more days to myself, so i'm pretty sure we can take all the time we need," she nods her head slightly, but there's a knowing look on her face. "if i didn't say it clear enough, i'm telling you we need to catch up." she exhales into a small laugh, the apples of her cheeks lifting as her eyes thin into crescents. "so, what's new with you?"
"well no, but i also mostly blamed that on the fact that one, you're under kh entertainment, and two, you're a serene member. i'm sure those two combined make the word rest nonexistent." she answers, immediately taking up the space youra makes for her. aeri has been with kh entertainment for over five years now, so she knows enough about how the company constantly had the group working on something. "but now it sounds like you prefer it that way? tsk, i don't approve." it's borderline hypocritical for that to come from aeri, who understands it more than she'd like to admit.
she pouts at the teasing, but any attempt to look upset is mitigated by the way she leans into the hand patting her head. "hey, you never know. i wasn't sure simply saying i wanted to see you would be enough. you're in-demand and very difficult to schedule, so i had to come here under false pretenses of working." but the reassurance that they have a few days earns a small, satisfied hum from her even though aeri suspects it will still pass faster than she expects. "but good. i'm holding you to that." she says, settling more comfortably beside her.
when youra asks what is new, aeri goes quiet for a few seconds. most of her recent life has been consumed by promotions or preparations for them, and she doubts youra, an idol for over a decade, really needs a detailed account of her experience in waiting rooms and how little sleep aeri has been getting. "besides work? i've been thinking of ways i could clone myself. with how tired i've been feeling, i desperately need one. but then i think about the possibility of my clone going rogue and decide against it. i couldn't imagine taking a nap and waking up to no longer having a job." it's a half-joke, but there is enough truth behind it to suggest that aeri has given the hypothetical more serious thought than she probably should have. after a beat, she adds, "and before you ask, yes, i've still been struggling with getting enough sleep during promotions."
aeri turns the question back on her. "what about you? and you can't answer with anything work-related since i already know all about you working. so... anything new happened? did you find any new places or buy something while on tour?"
