My ex threatened legal action against me in regards to the dog we adopted together. That or we share her month-to-month. I can’t afford legal actions, and I don’t want her being shared because she’s older and I just don’t think it’s fair to her.

So tomorrow I’m giving my dog to him permanently. So the dog I’ve paid 95% of the expenses for, that has been the most, if not only, positive force in my life since the split, and that I have taken care of by myself since the split is now going to him. I don’t think I’ve never felt so much hate towards a human being before, and I’ve never felt so much regret for my past self not getting my name on that adoption paperwork.

This is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I have no idea how people do this with human kids.

Also, Anna Kendrick is great, but Jeremy Jordan is DIVINE.

Honestly, this year was really rough.

My grandmother passed away in January, and on the same day I started a stressful journey at work. I honestly loved that job, but was very thankful I was leaving when I did for grad school.

Grad school would be one of the few positives of this year: getting accepted, getting a grant, and now having made my way through the first semester. However, it didn’t come without a few hiccups. The person writing one of my recommendation letters flaked at the last minute, meaning I had to scramble and find someone else only two days before I needed to mail them off. And while I’m thankful for everything it offers, grad school is still super stressful and can be a little disorganized at times.

Moving back home has been good in some aspects, but it meant leaving behind my boyfriend, friends, and students back in Santa Barbara. And a gnarly new commute to school.

Then there was the car accident.

And to cap it all off, four weeks ago I became single after being with my significant other for three years. And while I wholeheartedly believe the split needed to happen, that doesn’t make it any easier.

So, what now?
