I'm actually just gonna rant on some more of my fantasy BloodyMarry/PHM au.
Harpy - Random details
A humanoid species with wings and talons. They are made up of almost every species of natural birds. From Snowy owls to Robbin birds, found almost everywhere with different beliefs and languages. They are extremely diverse in looks, behaviors, and instincts.
One common link between harpies are their wings. All harpy species have wings that are often closely tied to their beliefs and cultures. With the most common belief being that a harpy should be allowed to rest with their wings.
One example is when a Harpy dies, they are buried in tall, open hills with clear access to the sky. It is often believed that a Harpy who is layed to rest with their wings after death will be reborn as a Harpy. If they are not allowed to rest with their wings then they lose their right to be reborn as a Harpy for several cycles. Due to this, those who are seen as heinous in their deads and life have their wings removed.
A common belief in recent times is that this is how humans were made.
Another belief is that a Harpy must be layed to rest. If their bodies are burned/cremated by anything other than nature (like forest fire) than they will not be reborn as a Harpy.
If a Harpy loses one or both wings but survive, they have two options. They will either choose a place where they will be buried and burry their wings there for when they die. The other much more common option is to have their wing(s) cremated and put in a container that they carry around. It is believed that a Harpy barried with they're removed wing(s) will be forgiven by they're gods.
