She felt bad. Her mouth twisted to the side of her face as she tried to think, think of a way for this woman to help her. A way that wasn’t magical. She huffed, frustrated, while she tapped her foot against the floor trying to think of the best way to assist. “Well, why don’t you help me to the pharmacy?” she asked, a small smile slowly growing on her face when she realized it was a good solution to the problem.

Rapunzel’s face lit up with excitement. Not only did she break the monotony for today, but it seemed like today, she’d be the one helping the police, instead of the other way around. She didn’t want to miss her opportunity, so she was quick to action.

Nani tried not to laugh aloud at the mention of money. The day she had money saved up was the day she would finally just sit down and relax for a while. That sounded like a treat. Unfortunately, she had enough to pay for Lilo and herself. That was about the extent of it. Hence the rush to get a job.

That was a fair thing to say. Rapunzel didn’t ever have to pay for rent the first year she was here, because she had someone to help her out. It seemed like, even though this girl had already had money saved up, she still deserved help. She grabbed another box and talked as she was getting everything set up.

Her face contorted in a worried look quicker than she could suppress it. Judy had never been a huge fan of magic and she hadn’t been sure why it would matter how she felt about it. Her bloody knees would heal, she’d had many worse injuries in her time and this was simply nothing. 

So so, so so bad Rapunzel just wanted a reason to use her Magick. It seemed that this probably wasn’t the right time. She wished things like this could be easier. All she had wanted to do was help! The policewoman was right however. There was no point in fixing such a small scrape.

She was on patrol. The balmy summer afternoon was quite trying considering the dark, thick fabric of her uniform. It hardly breathed, even wearing the short version of it she was dying. 

Looking down at the bloody, scraped up knees, Rapunzel felt her instincts kick in. She wasn’t sure how trustworthy this person was when it came to Magick, but she was a police officer. Rapunzel had never had a bad interaction with a cop. In fact, they were pretty friendly from her experiences.

Nani nodded, heading back to the hall to gather up what boxes she had dropped. Hopefully, nothing had broken. With her luck, those would be the dishes or a few personal items that she would rather not have crushed, thanks. The last thing she wanted was for her parents’ belongings to be shattered. That would just be the icing on the cake.

Rapunzel nodded as she headed back to the hall. “Yeah, I’ve been in Swynlake the past almost four years now, and I’ve been perfectly happy here. I think this is a good city for ‘fresh starts’.”

Lock laughed, loud and clear, as he opened the case of beer. He was certainly gonna have fun with this girl. She was drunk already and ready to have a good time. It was really perfect. Just what he needed that night. “Catch,” he chuckled, tossing her the beer before opening up one of his own.

She grabbed the beer before it hit the ground and began fighting with the pull tab as she babbled out her response. “Oh! Rapunzel! I’m Rapunzel Corona. Did you ever tell me your name? I don’t recall.”

“Pssssh– what is illegal REALLY?” 

“Oh! Well, I mean I’ve never been in trouble with the law before you know? So I’d be happy to help you, just as long as I don’t have to do anything I can get in trouble for, is all.”

“Oh, uhhh... well is there something you need done? It’s not something... illegal is it?”

Nani had been attempting to haul boxes up the stairs for thirty minutes now. She says attempted because it seemed liked something was always falling. Every time. After the third attempt at getting them all up at once, she began working out a system that allowed her to see the stairs better, hopefully reducing her chances of tripping or stumbling again.

The girl seemed to be having quite the rough morning already. Despite the headache that Rapunzel woke up with, she still felt obliged to help her out. She was always an altruistic person, and seeing someone so in need of a hand just made her feel like she had a purpose. 

Marian pushed the doughnuts into the girl’s hands with a heavy sigh. “Why would you ever think I would want to drink with you? I know this is not a nice thing to ask but, are you completely mad? Exactly which part of our interraction had you convinced I would want to imbibe myself in your company? You need to tell me and you need to be honest with me because, whatever it was, I never want to do it again.”

For whatever reason, Rapunzel didn’t realize how angry this chick was until now. She thought that everyone was having a good time. Sure, she had been a bit clumsy, but was that really something to get angry about? Rapunzel realized this person clearly wasn’t someone she wanted to be around. She was just trying to kill her summer vibes. 

Lock was honestly a bit in love with this girl And he didn’t even know what her name was. She was buying their goodies and offering a place to get fucked up. It didn’t get better than that. He hefted the beer beneath his arm and made to follow her out of the store, a bit of a pep in his step as he followed the blonde girl.

She was glad he wanted to go to her apartment, because the weather wasn’t very comfortable outside, and anyway they would probably have more fun if they had privacy.

All he could really do was raise an eyebrow at the girl beside him. If he needed anything. Could do with a few packs of smokes, maybe some wrapping papers. And she’d buy. Sounded like a good deal to him. “Yeah. Gimmie two packs of Camels and, uh, two packs of papers,” he grinned at the clerk before grabbing the items from him. “Thanks, mate.” He looked over to the girl, waited patiently as she paid for their goodies. “You got a place in mind or do you not care?” The question as casual, more of him gauging to see just what she had in mind. Either way he’d go along with it. He just wanted to now what he was getting into first.

Rapunzel swiped her card and paid for everything. She wasn’t sure how those papers worked, so she hoped that he didn’t ask her to use them. She grabbed the food and motioned for him to grab the beer as she began walking out into the muggy June outdoors.

This girl was… well she was something. But Lock wasn’t going to question it. She was up for a good time and that was something he’d never argue. Especially when he’d been partying alone for too long. Of course he could have always thrown a text Kiara’s way but that was something he didn’t want to broach that subject just yeet. Wasn’t sure what he thought of that situation.

She got everything on the counter and looked around. “I think we’re good, unless you need anything?” she grabbed her card out of her purse. “I have moooonneey anyways,” she giggled. She really hadn’t done anything yet tonight, but she already felt like she was having such a good time. Her head was spinning in every direction, and as far as she was concerned, this new man whose name she didn’t even know- was her best friend.
