I've been gone for ages, my old laptop finally croaked. My new one just arrived yesterday and I'm finally hoping to get back into the Sims 2 (though I'm not looking forward to rebuilding my CC/mod collection 😒). I'm also realizing the horrors of what the re-release did in terms of getting the Ultimate Collection. Sigh.
people i'd like to get to know better (meme)
I was tagged by @nerianasims!
Last song: Golden - HUNTR/X (Have I seen Kpop Demon Hunters? No… But do I think this song is 10/10? Yes…)
Favorite Color: I go between red and blue. Right now, blue.
Currently Watching: At the moment, nothing. I am working my way through the newest Black Mirror episodes on Netflix and The Hunting Wives, though.
Last Movie: Honestly... I'm not sure! Six Triple Eight or Hidden Figures are the two that come to mind.
Sweet, savory or sour: I am on a sour patch kids kick, so Sweet and Sour.
Currently reading: According to my Kindle App... I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jeanette McCurdy (Bought it ages ago, been meaning to read it since it came out... have not yet.) Not All Diamonds and Rosé: The Inside Story of The Real Housewives from the People Who Lived It by Dave Quinn (Real Housewives goss and nonsense, very good if you're into that kinda stuff!) The Pact: Bill Clinton, Newt Gingrich, and the Rivalry that Defined a Generation by Steven Gillon (This is NOT a pleasure read, though I'll admit I do read stuff like this for fun. It's for background for an Alternate History I'm writing set in the 1990s. Probably a snooze if you aren't a wonk.) Emperor of Japan: Meiji and His World, 1852-1912 by Donald Keene. (All about Emperor Meiji, his life, the Japan he lived in, and how is changed during his reign. Meiji is significant mainly because of the Meiji Restoration, which saw the Shogunate toppled and the emperor returned to power but also saw Japan break with it's past and embark on a program of modernization/westernization.)
Current Obsession: Pokemon. Beat Violet a few months ago, finally beat the Elite 4 in BDSP after like two years of putting it off? And I even went back to Arceus in the last few weeks to finish out the main story and catch Arceus. Currently waiting for Legends ZA in October... not sure how I feel yet about the real time action battles, but I am excited to try something new! Plus, we're going back to Kalos, which means CLOTHES AND CUSTOMIZATION.
Last google: Emperor Go-Shirakawa. Japanese Emperor. Probably from above. Mentioning Meiji made me vaguely curious about his predecessors (specifically ones that had a role to play and weren't just ceremonial figureheads or dominated). Apparently Go-Shirakawa was one of those.
Currently working on: I wanted to do nothing. Absolutely nothing. Maybe do a little writing. Was supposed to have today off… have to go in at 3:30PM for 4 hours because a staff called out 😵💫 At least it’s not the full eight. I thought joining the managerial class meant having all the perks and none of the hard work? Turns out that worldview is totally incompatible with being a good supervisor! You kinda have to be a good supervisor in the field I’m in (healthcare, mental health specifically, residential programs even more specifically) because good supervisors are the ones who have good staff who will gladly help, because you don’t ask them to do things that you wouldn’t do yourself. And honestly, bad supervisors tend to wash out quick in this field. So, yeah. We gotta be good. And I’m gonna be actually working in a few hours. 😵💫
Tagging: If you’d like to do it, go for it! But I will tag a couple people who like my shit: @nectar-cellar @ennysimmer
hi hello, I am still here, I am just still on a continued hiatus from the Sims. 😭 I had a brief flash of wanting to play the Sims 2 a week ago, but it left almost as soon as it arrived.
I am hoping once fall gets here I’ll get back into the mood to play again since fall/winter are usually when I feel like simming but there’s also a lot of games coming out in that same time frame that I’ll be wanting to play too… FFT Remake at the end of September, Pokemon ZA in October. Well, maybe in November/December. 😵💫
Another new Sim joins the neighborhood, eager to see what SimNation has to offer.

so i've spent some time these last few days finally playing through the FF7 Remake. Bought it when it first came out, found it a slog and dropped it (can JRPGs stop trying to make active/action battle systems a thing??? Dragon Quest and Persona show that turn based can still be fun and fluid!!). With Rebirth having come out, I'm giving it another shot. FF7 has never been one of my favorites and I still prefer the original, but the Remake is good as it's own thing.
I do have to say though... the sections post-Wall Market where Cloud is paired up with Tifa and Aerith? Those scenes give big "girl best friends with their awkward gay friend" energy.
(Though yes, I can admit that Remake does a pretty good job and showing Cloud's affections for both Tifa and Aerith. I've seen some argue that the remakes solidify that one or the other is Cloud's true love interest, but I'd say the remake at least still leaves it ambiguous.)
Ezinne isn't interested in the rat race. She's interested in fame and accolades. She meets the welcome wagon- she's not sure about these two: Bella and Mortimer Goth. Not exactly the kind of people she usually associates with. Hopefully Ezinne meets some interesting people in studio town.
79 Crumplebottom Court Ezinne has found a home through SimCity's Revitalization program. The remains of this derelict townhouse has been refurbished to provide housing for low income residents. "Revitalization" leaves a little to be desired.... more like they knocked down some walls and slapped some paint on it. Ezinne doesn't have much stuff, but there's plenty of space and room to grow.
Paloma will have a new neighbor in the neighborhood soon: Ezinne Ozoemena.

Omg the TSO skin archive even includes stuff for NPCs like the Tragic Clown... dare I make a female Tragique Clown???
The Sims 1 equivalent of 3t2 and 4t2 is conversions from the Sims Online.
The beginnings of Downtown's newest up-and-coming hot spot, Club Kérastase. This place will have everything: from a piano bar staffed entirely by snooty European musicians who flunked out of the conservatory, to a romper dance floor playing only the finest Eurotrash. Mild alcohol poisoning may be required to fully enjoy. Club Kérstaste is not responsible for illegal substances that may or may not be sold in it's bathrooms.
Paloma embraces her inner 90s wine mom with a kitchen remodel. Simmers who lived through the 90s: you know what I'm talking about. Kitchens were either country kitsch (usually with a chicken/rooster motif) or Italianate (bonus points if it had some sort of grape motif and false ivy). My mom / grandma were firmly in the country kitsch category!
What the hell, go for it you crazy kids! Dano joins the household. He's in the journalism career as a paparazzi, and he brings 18,000 into the household coffers. Wowza! They can definitely get a bigger place, but Paloma is happy to stay where they are for right now.
Paloma comes home with another promotion. The hours are still wonky, and Dano will be working odd hours too (5PM to 1PM). Paloma worries about Marisol's development... in Salvadorada she had her mother and father, not to mention her grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles to help pick up the slack. Here it's just Paloma- but it's all in the pursuit of the SimNation dream: enjoying the fruits of unfettered capitalism and consumerism. Who needs community when you can afford a flatscreen TV?

Any thoughts of Michael Bachelor have faded since Paloma has met Dano. Maybe his name is a bit odd, but he's a good looking guy, and on top of that, he's absolutely done amazing with Marisol. Paloma isn't sure where things might go from here, but she's willing to see what happens...
A promotion to Trade Show Model means more money in Paloma's pocketbook- and more money to spend! She uses her bonus as well as her newest paycheck to deck out the living room and dining room with brand new furniture suiting her eclectic style. Life in SimNation couldn't be better! Paloma's hours are more erratic, however: she's working from 5PM to 1AM, which means Marisol is becoming a certified latchkey kid. As she gets home from school, her mom is preparing to go into work: leaving Marisol home alone in the evenings. She's on her own as far as dinner is concerned, and has the run of the house.... the certified SimNation kid experience!
