what do u do when u see a story so vividly in ur mind and can have it all set in ur head but nothing u actually write comes close to sounding how u want it to sound????? the plot is so clear, so many scenes are worked out to the t in my head, but i keep trying to start writing and nothing i write is coming across in the way i am wanting. not even in a self deprecating way, just in a “this isn’t right and i don’t know how to make it sound right” way

Violet having a whole breakdown and panic attack after killing her literal bully in book 1 is the most realistic, humane reactions ever written down in a fantasy novel. Such aspects are most likely dismissed by authors under the guise of romance and crowning female badass-ity. Kudos to the author for addressing the circumstances and the valid reactions to how murder can affect a person’s mental health. Bonus points for making Xaden quote to Violet about how worse his mental state was after he made his very first kill. She could’ve easily made Xaden a classic,cold hearted shadow daddy like the other authors. Instead she chose to make him vulnerable and that is why Xaden is echoed as the emotionally intelligent, loudly loving loverboy over realms today.
