“Yeah,” she agreed, as if suddenly shy due to the fact that his grin made her weak all over in the very best way. And despite the pain, her heart ached for his past. It made her want to reach out and pull him to her, even though they were already so close. She wanted to worship every inch of his manly form, yet she couldn’t pull her eyes away from his as his fingers combed through her hair. Then she took a breath and smiled once again.

“I am relaxed, but you know what would make it all better?” Now she was going for a little cheese as she pointed to the spot on her neck where he had bitten. “If you kiss it there, nice and soft.” Her fingers slipped down his shoulders and she clawed ever so slightly at his sides, as if to get him on top of her once more.

Paul raised an eyebrow but grinned, lowering his soft lips to her wound. He paused right before his mouth touched her skin, a hair's breadth away, and whispered.

"Like this?"

He laughed quietly and waited for her response before brushing his lips to her skin and kissing the mark.

He tried not to look upset as he recalled his dream, but he couldn’t help it. The tears started to brim to the surface of his eyes and he sniffled real loud. It was relieving the nightmare all over again.

"W-We were back in Michael’s house…" he began quietly, "and then… and then I was watching as you got pushed into the tub by that big dog… and I tried to run after you but the Frogs stopped me from helping you! I wanted to save you from getting hurt but I couldn’t!"

Unable to contain himself any longer, Laddie’s tears fell down his cheeks. But instead of blubbering, he closed his eyes, turned around and kicked the wall behind him with his foot.

"Darn it!" he cried out. "I wanted to help you in the dream, just like I wanted to help you back then but I couldn’t! I stink!"

Paul winced at the memory but bent down to look his little brother in the eyes.

"Hey it's okay bud. I'm here aren't I? It's okay, we're not going to let anything like that happen, 'kay Laddie? Your big brothers aren't goin' anywhere, I promise."

He fished out of his pocket a new cassette tape he'd been meaning to give Laddie.

"Check it out, I got you somethin'," he grinned and held it out to the young brunette.
