Red eyed the other skeleton’s hand for a moment, but then took it, shaking it. “smokey, huh? why not yer own name? this is yer universe, after all, isn’ it?” he asked, curious. Of course, he didn’t mind calling the Papyrus in front of him by his nickname, but it certainly was a bit of a relief to not need to use his brother’s name for once. He missed Papyrus, and while he’d met a few that were much like his brother, none of them were exactly correct… though that one Papyrus that was shorter than him would always tickle his funnybone whenever he thought of the poor shortass.

Red listened with an air of curiousity, but he didn’t press on the comment about their names. It seemed weird to him, but it was still not his universe and not his place to pry. When Smokey offered him a smoke, Red shook his head. “nah, but thanks anyway. i don’ smoke tobacco,” he said, then fell silent for a moment before Smokey asked him why he was there only to flush and backtrack. “heh. i’m fine ta chat anywhere, honestly. some’a ya guys don’ like me interactin’ with yer bros,” he replied with a casual shrug. “can’t say i blame ‘em, though. i’m a little rough lookin’, after all, and there are so many marshmallows in tha multiverse,” he add, snickering to himself. Regardless of his stance on not caring where they talked, though, Red still wasn’t about to pass up the chance to get to sit in a semi-familiar house. He did like seeing what his alternates did with their living space. What would the carpet look like? The wall colours? Would the couch be ratty and lumpy like Underswap and the Alpha verse? would it be nearly pristine and leather like his own couch had been? Or perhaps it would be a ratty, lumpy leather couch like Cherry’s had been. Given his status as a wanderer with no home to call his own (not anymore, anyway. It wasn’t home without Papyrus there), he couldn’t help but be curious about the places other Sans and Papyruses called home. “still, if yer offerin’ ta take me up, i’m not gonna object. gettin’ ta sit and relax a bit would be pretty nice,” he continued after a moment, offering the other skeleton a small smile.

A flash of light lit up the basement lab, and after a moment, a machine appeared in the center of the room. Once the glare cleared, the door opened and out stepped a tall skeleton in a deep red sweater, a black and yellow jacket pulled on over top. Frowning slightly, he cast a look around. The lab he was in had a somewhat low ceiling, though not as bad as some of the ones he’d been crammed into in the past. “okay, then… so points to this universe in probably not being inhabited by a bunch of short fuckers… wonder where i’ve wound up this time,” the skeleton muttered to himself. He closed and locked the door to the machine before tucking the key into one of the pockets of his cargo pants, then headed out of the lab. There was only one way to find out where he was, after all.

Red blinked as the lab lights switched on and he came up short as another skeleton came into view. He canted his head slightly as he took in the other. A Papyrus wearing the fluffiest hoodie he’d seen yet, but he looked more like one of his own counterparts, instead of his brothers, given the outfit and general aura about him. “heh, sorry. s’not like i can really give advanced warnin', considerin' i don’t even really know where i’m goin' in tha first place,” he replied with a shrug. “anyway, name’s sans, but ya can call me red. s’what everyone calls me these days,” the tall Sans added, sighing as he fiddled with the tattered, trailing end of the crimson scarf wrapped around his neck. If there was one thing he hated about traveling like this, it was that the only time he ever got to be called by name was if it was another Fell Papyrus who’d lost his brother.
