I've been gone for a while and that's okay.

Late last month, Rep. Andy Barr [R-KY] “invited” Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to visit the coal miners in his Appalachian district, by way of rebuttal to her brilliant response to the charge that the Green New Deal was a rich, city-person’s luxury, taking no account of working, poor and rural people.

AOC took him up on the invitation, saying “It’s a complete injustice the cancer levels that a lot of these communities are confronting. We have to plan a future for all of our communities, no matter what. Failure to plan is planning to fail and I feel like we’ve been failing Appalachian communities for a very long time and it’s time to turn that ship around.”

Now, Barr has rescinded the invitation, blaming it on her defense of Rep Ilhan Omar, who has been smeared by Republicans and establishment Democrats with the racist slur that she supports Islamic terror. Barr said he was dismayed by her “lack of civility.”

In response, AOC tweeted: “GOP’s getting scared that up close, their constituents will realize I’m fighting harder for their healthcare than their own Reps .”

I’ve never even heard people from my own state talk about it. 

I’ve been living with my fiance since January this year, and things have been okay for the most part. His family knows I’m trans, and they were using my correct names and pronouns. I’m 12 weeks pregnant currently.

But recently, my future mother-in-law found out my deadname, and when she found out I was pregnant, refuses to call me a man and has been buying me feminine clothing and products. She calls me by my deadname, out in public, when the place we’re living in is not friendly towards Latinos. She also is extremely mentally unstable, refusing to get help despite her having multiple breakdowns and threats of suicide/homocide a week. This only happened a couple of months ago, so it’s a shock to my fiance as well. 

And now, my fiance’s dad has become hostile towards me. Saying shit like “I can’t wait for when your tr*nny ass dies giving birth”, “Hey that baby better not come out a darkie (in reference to my black grandfather)” and other heinous shit. I brought this up to his wife, but she only dismissed him because “he’s veteran have some respect (deadname)!”

We need to move out, ASAP. 

My fiance’s job pays only around $1500 a month, and it’s only monthly pay, not biweekly. The places nearby that we have to pick from are all expensive and will take half of my fiance’s paycheck just to move in.

Here’s what we need money for:

Groceries (for when we move out so we can have food)

Furniture (if the furnished apartments aren’t that much costly we’ll probably go with that but this is still a likely necessity)

Utilities (only electric and internet)

And anything else if we’re not able to grab everything in time before his parents come back from a trip.

Please, I don’t normally do these kinds of posts but I’m genuinely fearful for my life and my baby’s life. I stay upstairs all day hiding from them, trying to keep out of their way. I only come downstairs when my fiance is home, because I know they won’t do anything to me in front of him. This isn’t a life.

My boss pointed out the security concern, but she wasn’t taken seriously, so she took matters into her own hands. 

She bought a ticket and  pretended to be a guest. She entered through the main entrance with a huge drill clearly visible on her belt, went straight to the documents and opened the case with the drill. (While  wearing gloves,) she removed the documents, put them in a folder, reattached the glass, and walked out the main exit.  Literally no one even questioned her.

 She immediately went around to the back of the museum, entered using the staff entrance and went straight to her boss’s office.  She dropped the folder on his desk and said “I just stole these in 15 minutes“

I dunno, these look pretty realistic to me. The key is they render the cartoony elements (like Majikarp’s eyes and the shape of his fins) pretty accurately so it doesn’t just look like a rat hauling a weird fish, you can tell that’s a Pikachu and a Majikarp.

They also did a good job keeping most of the cute Pokemon looking fairly cute,

although you can still get moments where Aipom and Jigglypuff appear legitimately creepy and threatening when angered.

Then there are Pokemon who are odd-looking because they were always meant to appear odd-looking

And the ‘scary’ Pokemon actually look like dangerous, powerful monsters!

What I like about these designs is that they’ve got a good balance of traits that make them instantly recognizable enough that any Pokemon fan can name them at a glance, but given just enough nuance and realistic elements that presumably wouldn’t render very well in a cartoon. (For example, the little hairs on the inner part of Jigglypuff’s ears, Pikachu’s fluffy fur, and Charizard’s rough, dinosaur-like scales).

You can tell the people behind the design choices are really passionate about Pokemon and wanted to create characters you could easily suspend your disbelief to accept and also fully enjoy with the original ‘flavor’ of Pokemon as a long-time fan.

Minors being able to exist in Internet spaces without being harassed or groomed by creepy assholes twice their age: also good

But do you know what happened when you asked questions, at least at my school(s)? They would say “I just taught this, weren’t you paying attention?” So of course that made many of the students feel like idiots because they asked for help, like they should have understood right away.
