hello fellow non-Black tumblr users. welcome to my saw trap. if you'd like to leave, please name one (1) Black woman author who is not Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, bell hooks, Octavia Butler, or N.K. Jemisin. bonus points if she's published a book in the last five years.
For my own future reference, and for anyone else who wants it, a list of authors mentioned in the notes. (I cannot promise this is comprehensive, there are a lot of reblogs and I might have missed some.) I've included a link for each author, where possible I've tried to find one that leads you to their books, prioritising own websites/publishers, falling back on wikipedia otherwise.
If you find any mistakes in the links let me know and I'll edit. This post will be in two parts, because I literally broke tumblr with how many authors there were. I think it's about a hundred and fifty.

LGBTQ+ In ASOIAF
In honor of Pride Month, here's a list of canonically queer characters in ASOIAF! There are far more characters than who I have listed, but I was only allowed 30 pictures per post, so I have tried to include central characters to the best of my ability. The progress pride flag has been used for characters with no confirmed sexuality.
Lady Jeyne Arryn, who served as head of house Arryn during the Dance of Dragons, and was seemingly pretty openly lesbian, and lived with and died naturally in her lover's arms.
Renly Baratheon - In both show and book canon, Renly is a gay man, and has a relationship with Loras Tyrell.
Daemon II Blackfyre - Canonically had a male lover, and had interest in Ser Duncan the Tall.
Jon Connington - A close friend of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen's. Many speculate he loved the prince, and he was confirmed by George R.R. Martin to be gay.
Elissa Farman - One of many, although the obvious favorite, lovers of Queen Rhaena Targaryen.
Oberyn Martell - In both books and show canon, Oberyn Martell is bisexual.
Loras Tyrell - In both books and show canon, Loras Tyrell is gay, and the lover of Renly Baratheon. It is speculated that Loras pursued Knighthood to remain unmarried without his sexuality being put to question, however his sexuality is widely known.
Queen Rhaena Targaryen - Queen Rhaena is a canonical lesbian, and had a harem of lovers, namely Elissa Farman, whom she was very openly close with.
Laenor Velaryon - In both books and show canon Laenor is a gay man and takes a few lovers.
Alyssane Blackwood - Alyssane was rumored to have a female lover, but later married Cregan Stark for love. Her sexuality is not confirmed.
Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen - In book canon, Rhaenyra was rumored to have taken male and female lovers, namely Laena Velaryon and Harwin Strong. In show canon, Rhaenyra expresses romantic or sexual desire for the Lady Mysaria. However, her sexuality is not confirmed.
Varys - In show canon, Varys verbally expresses a lack of sexual or romantic attraction.
Laena Velaryon - In book canon, Laena was rumored to have been a lover of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen. Her sexuality is not confirmed.
Daenerys Targaryen - Daenerys has expressed romantic and sexual attraction towards men, and sexual attraction towards women. Her sexuality is not confirmed.
Below are links to the artists I used.
Daemon II Blackfyre Jon Connington Elissa Farman
Rhaena Targaryen Alyssane Blackwood Laena Velaryon

not every mutual fits neatly into an archetypal medievalism but there are some mutuals that im like yeah addressing you as “my liege” would come strangely naturally
what mutual is prev
my liege lord
my loyal knight
my wise wizard
my evil advisor
my brother in arms
my lady muse
my wild mermaid friend
my fellow alchemist
my dashing rapscallion
my monstrous foe

Endlessly diabolical how you can't say words like rape and suicide uncensored without either being criticised by idiots or punished by conglomerates.
It's not r*pe, it's rape. It's not su*cide, it's suicide. Not unalive, dead. The backbone needs to be reintroduced en masse because softening the blow of these concepts with advertising language does absolutely nothing but allow people unaffected by them to feel not even a sting of what they can do, prompting inaction.
And it's been proven that on certain websites, you don't even face a repercussion for using the words as they are. People just started censoring themselves because they feared the potential lack of views and likes and followers which is so nasty itself.
I attended an anti-suicide seminar in college. One of the big takeaways from it was that stigmatizing suicide increases the rate of suicide, because people who are feeling suicidal feel like they can't ask for help. Every time I see babytalk garbage like 'unalive', I think of that.
Use the real words. Words have power, and they matter.

so when are we getting lee cronin’s the mummy the prequel and/or sequel bc i’m gonna need more on this evil(?) diva and her complicated family legacy
what character(s) do you associate with the person you reblogged this from?
so Deadline has reported Starz canceled House of Ashur, but that Lionsgate is still shopping it around. as of tonight DeKnight is giving me reason to stay optimistic?? but i am always down to clown
we’ll see i guess!
Genuinely think the healthiest thing the Star Wars franchise could do right now is take a break from live-action movies* and TV shows all together for a few years, but there's no way Disney will let them do that 😞
*I know we technically haven't had a live action movie for the past seven years, but several Star Wars movies have been in development during that time. What I'm saying is they need to take a break from the live action stuff full stop.
I was gonna say we need another Star Wars RPG before I remembered we're getting Fate of the Old Republic ("expected before 2030"), so... here's to hoping it's good!

Which Dragon Age MC did you find most inspiring for role-playing?
The Hero of Ferelden
Hawke
The Inquisitor
Rook
Why and how did you play them? Let's talk about it in the comments!
Game time
I saw this game a while back (can't even remember where) and it looked fun, so I'm stealing it. The rules - make a poll with 5 of your favorite fictional characters and then tag 5 people to do the same.
Which one of these do you like best?
Dahlia (The Originals)
Liandrin Guirale (Wheel of Time)
Leif Ericksson (Vikings Valhalla)
Cassandra Pentaghast (Dragon Age)
Anakin Skywalker (Star Wars)
Results
( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡° )
Edit: Da hell happened with that last "option"? Ignore it.
I feel like I could make a whole top 5 poll just for my Star Wars favorites, but Anakin can be in this one, he's best-known.
Tagging: @tokoyamisstuff @agathas-wife @blondelucretia @anne-in-dreamland @hedas-yellow-pillow and anyone else who wants to do it!
