the most bizarre inside joke i've ever had for this long between friends
Context: I'm gonna try to make this short but there's so many layers to this goofy ass interaction I had
I went to the dentist recently and right off the bat they talk exactly like Harley Sawyer no lie (speech, not voice) and starts off by asking "What are we doing today, little one?" Never in my two decades on this earth did anyone ever call me that before but naturally I feel like prey to a mad scientist
I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went along with the procedure and maybe halfway through they ask "Is that a picture of your parents?" Meanwhile I got like. 3 different tools in my mouth so how do they expect me to answer
Plus I'm confused as HELL, but then I realize they're asking about my pin on my bag. A picture of the 1950's comedy team Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.
... H U H ?
So. Either A. They think me and Dean Martin (or Jerry god help me) share some resemblance. Which like. No?? I THINK???
Or B. They saw two men in a photoshoot and thought "Oh! Those two men are a couple (they must have sensed the yaoi), and you must be their adopted daughter."
Or C. They confused either Dean or Jerry to be a mother that shared some resemblance with me.

anyway procedure went fine and now it's been reference upon reference with friends about how i'm the doomed yaoi child of Martin & Lewis. and that my dentist is Harley Sawyer. nice

in case y'all didn't know this guy is INSANELY talented and sweet asf too. he's always preaching bout putting artists first and is a seriously supportive and wholesome fella who deserves all the love he gets. I only wish I found him sooner but I'm also one of the many people who found about him from his stellar performance as the Doctor and DogDay in Poppy Playtime. since then he's been a huge source of artistic inspiration for me and he deserves all the credit for that. (though I have my suspicions I saw him first even when he did cat voice-over vids lol)
So thank you so so much Baldwin (I've made a habit now of watching your streams while I work on my art assignments and the idea of painting ya got to me lmao) and you have an amazing 28th birthday cuz ya deserve it buddy!!

Jokes aside lemme seriously explain to you about how this audio made me fall in love with this character writing and overall story, and ultimately made Harley Sawyer my favorite character. Excellent voice acting aside, the script to this thing is gold. I devour this sort of cinematic writing. No filler, just information. Even with the seemingly useless-to-the-story dialogue, it opens a door for such well developed character writing. The emphasis on "you?!" just MMMM I love subtle lore implications GIMME GIMME GIMME
Also, like. βWhen I get my hands on youβ¦β is the most βWhy I oughtaβ response Iβd hear from my grandfather or something when I was a little kid. But the way Harleyβs voice actor (the extremely talented @baldwinvoices !!) delivers it in the full audio would wipe a grin right off my face with that βYOUβRE A DEAD MANβ like OH OKAY we got an actually intimidating villain on our hands and I LOVE IT. (INCOMING SPOILERS, LAST CHANCE)
Which makes for a REALLY interesting next chapter with that insane ending bro. No lie every time PPT chapters end with a cliffhanger I lose like 5 years off my life I CANNOT. What I'm getting at here though is as much as I hate his clanker ass it's- in my opinion- a really cool idea for a dynamic where we have him as a begrudging ally to defeat the bigger enemy here. (even though I'd actually argue Harley is most likely worse so I doubt they're going for a redemption arc, but goddamn do we need all the help we can get lmao.) Either way I'm excited as always and actually pretty happy they brought him back. A lot of other fans and I always thought he was too smart to not have a Plan B if he died, I just assumed he'd be in the mainframe of the Omni-Hand or smth π he's so smug i love it and the pros of this chapter really shine bright!!
