Alright all, so as you may have all noticed, but there's been a significant drop in activity across all my blogs, and it's not unintentional. With many in the HSR RPC slowing down and also experiencing activity drops, I've also decided to shift my attention to other blogs outside of the community, mainly because I need a bit of a break from Hoyoverse. For the most part, "semi-hiatus" will really just reflect the decreased activity that almost everyone has been outputting, so I wouldn't fret too much. I'll be dropping in here and there to do drafts as I still adore HSR and am excited for what's to come!

Everything in the universe is bound by the prison of Existence, constrained by their body and mind and blinded by the world's superficial appearance. Even the most intelligent beings cannot comprehend this. Matter, order, logic, and life... Everything that makes up "reality" is but one side of the coin. On the opposite side, of equal entropy, there exists "nihility." The two balance each other to create the complete universe. Legend has it that a mysterious faction known as Device IX lurks in the empty reflections of void, difficult to be perceived by the material world. Those who gaze into the void for a long time will gradually be drawn to the dark energy overflowing in the abyss, eventually passing through the Dark Web that separates reality from nothingness â This legend has yet to be proven, though. The most prestigious geniuses in the universe attempted to solve this mystery, challenging Device IX with no results. Why was this organization created? What are its goals? How many members does it have and what do they do? Does... Device IX truly exist? The answer is as empty as the question itself. Device IX, Databank, Factions
Essentially, based on its description, I have reason to think Device IX is located in the Sea of Quanta, and its power is derived from it, too, and possibly the secret to how Polka will be able to destroy IX.
This is a rift between reality and possibilities, a dimension of imaginary theories and actual existence. âJoachim, 11-1 Manifest Corridor Mathematically speaking, the "Sea of Quanta" does not belong to the known four-dimensional space-time, but a large class of "folded planes" that exist parallel to us. [...] Unlike the "classic space-time" we live in, the "Sea of Quanta" is "fragmented" on a large scaleâ Basic physical laws change continuously as the coordinates shift, resulting in the worlds being unstable like soap bubblesâ âHowever, in the gap between said fragmented worlds, there are countless "stable zones" fixated by the "Ether Anchor". Those worlds, like ours, follow a fixed set of laws. âOtto Apocalypse
Something explored in this video is the fact that the Sea of Quanta/Quantum Energy is one of the few energies in the Hoyoverse capable of countering the power of Finality, which manifests as the Coccoon of Finality in Hi3 (whose universe is limited to the Solar System), and was confirmed when the Coccon tried to "embrace" Venus (a planet that tapped into and overused the power of Quanta that destroyed its civilization) and failed to do so because of the saturation of Quantum Energy that buffered the planet against the Cocoon.
Therefore, I think it's reasonable to assume that Polka has harnessed the power of the Sea of Quanta via Device IX to power her Aeon killer that will eventually kill IX, especially since--if it can neutralize Finality, it can conceptually neutralize all other Path Power that derive their powers from Finality.
One thing that's seriously been a mystery to me is the exact powers an Emanator of Erudition would boast, let alone Nous. Nous has omniscience, and THEIR Moments have a propensity of absolution to come true, but is that all of it?
Something that is true is that the Authorities in Hi3 share parallels with HSR's Paths. So, with the Path of Erudition...
Matter Creation
World Understanding
Matter Manipulation
Regeneration/Restoration
At least, if it's like the Authority of Reason in Hi3, this could be an outline of its capabilities. The problem is, of course, that I haven't seen confirmation of this in Emanators of Erudition like Herta or Zandar/Lygus, although the nine vessels of Zandar could point to this, maybe?
Another parallel I think exists is Void/Nihility. It's Hi3 abilities are:
Matter Creation
Imaginary Renormalisation
Matter Manipulation
Imaginary Space Manipulation
Space Manipulation
Imaginary Space Travel
Bubble World Creation
Bubble World Manipulation
Black Hole Creation
World Anchor Creation
World Anchor Severing
The main reason I think this is that Polka displays some highly likely dominion over Nihility, to the extent that she has the means to kill IX, which is downright unprecedented. Of these, she can travel anywhere between reality and void space (which is probably in the Sea of Quanta), she's created a physical place in the void (Device IX) that seems to be a bubble world, and can manipulate matter when she destroys depictions of herself throughout the cosmos, sometimes without physically being there.

Until we get this smacked down in canon, one thing I am absolutely convinced of is the fact that I genuinely can't see anyone who cavorts with Nihility super significantly as being able to escape with their selves intact. Zephyro, as a Self-Annihilator & LR of Nihility, is literally cloaked and his face is obscured. Acheron, as another Emanator of Nihility, pretty much has no memory of her past and no homeland to return to. Polka, meanwhile, is just as deeply steeped in Nihility in they are and it really shows; her face is obscured, all depictions of her have been destroyed, and she sits on the means to kill IX THEMSELVES. Unlike the other Geniuses, she also doesn't seem to exist outside of her mission. Herta, Ruan Mei, Screwllum, Stephen--even ones like Zandar, Elias Salas, Aiden, and Ying Qingtu have stories of themselves outside of their lives as Geniuses. They have backgrounds, pasts, origins while Polka doesn't. She's existed for an excruciatingly long time doing this, and it's possible she was even before Nous' existence. And I don't think it's a coincidence, either. I really do think it's a consequence of Nihility, and that she'd given up her sense of self for the sake of her mission.

This would seem like the sort of place the Laughter would create for THEIR own amusement, wouldn't THEY? A pocket dimension that Polka had stumbled upon that attached itself to the World End's Tavern, that den of Fools that was supposedly exclusive to those blessed by the Elation. And yet, the Lord of Silence had no trouble locating it due to a certain conundrum linked to a colleague of hers, one could say. The tinny strains of an orchestrion filtered through hallways draped in the tarp of a circus tent, garish and red, while gauzy light filtered through. A path with only one destination, but not a difficulty to ascertain.
After all, Polka doubted she'd be the only one when Aha was happy to torment THEIR own followers.

Dragging around this false persona was the equivalent of lugging around a corpse, but 'Sophia' the Nodist would be forced to live a little longer; well into Amphoreus' genesis, too, that much was certain. And what was a year for one who was everlasting? The limits of the Everlastin Page were beginning to fray as old remnants of the previous Amphoreus responded to its inhabitants' memories, manifesting a world that was expanding beyond its established borders.
Within a pixelated Grove of Epiphany, 'Sophia' stood with a mixture of dread and awe, a rehearsed expression. Especially in the circumstance that she wasn't alone.
"...Your Majesty? It's strange... but it appears the garden isn't all that's being reborn."
@chrysalisgaze -- ;
Across the topography of existence, causality was a domain that was hers to beckon, to command. Across the cosmos did uncountable intellectuals try to push past the limits she'd set, and Lord of Silence clashing with the Black Rose would have been inevitable. Heels clopped cavernously on tiled floors as she approached a team of scientists in a state of panic, frenzied as sensors blared and a bright portal embedded into a wall yawned wider, the seam splitting the wall as an encroaching growth began to conquer every surface.
"What a shame. It appears this experiment must come to an end."
@ephemeraldreamstones -- ;
An uncharted Memory Zone. Such places were abundant across the cosmos, and many were reflections of dead planets and places that no longer were. People milled about obliviously, unaware they were dead and gone and only the memory of their existence remained. Within the liminal space of an enormous shopping complex, Polka leaned on a glass-lined balustrade overlooking the concourse below, gaze dull with disinterest. Perhaps something might come of this place. Perhaps--
"...I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that you would find yourself here."

The Abyss
One thing I genuinely find kind of funny is this notion I've seen in some circles of HSR reddit that is this idea that Polka has any shred of loyalty to the IPC and serves them in any way. Not only did she orchestrate the most monumental non-Aeonic disaster in the Intelligentsia Guild's history (the Scholar's Strife)--and as we know, the Guild is the literal brain of the IPC--but I genuinely doubt her loyalty to Nous given how she constrains the limits of attainable knowledge that is the antithesis of Nous' aim. She isn't loyal to anyone except her cause that isn't helmed by any sapient being. She's a vanguard of the universe that isn't corruptible by sentiment or selfishness.
I won't lie, I'm seriously craving some cosmic horror--or, just some scenario like getting stuck in the backrooms, or some planet that's small town horror.
So, something I've come to notice over time that Polka really seems to have a pretty undeniable connection to Equilibrium that might point to being another Path she's associated with. There's a lot that hints to this being the case, and I don't think it's out of hand to consider it true, too.
HooH THEMSELVES have been present in her doings, specifically when she killed Rubert I.
SU: Gold & Gears, Emperor Rubert II
Perhaps the most damning piece of evidence was HooH's presence during the killing of Rubert I when Polka's blade was slightly affected by the angle via HooH's interference (aid?).
She can navigate along the Chains of Karma, which in-lore, are dominantly associated with Equilibrium.
Herta, Antimonic Waltz
Equilibrium, Data Bank: Aeons
This one is a lot more self-explanatory, but I've yet to hear of any other character capable of doing this. The Chains of Karma are undeniably HooH's creation, but her being able to navigate them is extremely suspect.
Her ability to withstand/co-exist with Nihility on the path to destroy IX might be reflected in the Equilibrium.
SU: Swarm Disaster, Lepismat System: Massacre Saga VI
Acheron, Penacony 2.3 TBQ
Something I also find incredibly curious is that Equilibrium canonically has the ability to destroy things associated with Nihility, and how it takes a group of Arbitrators (speculated to mostly be Emanators of Equilibrium) to destroy one Shadow of Nihility while Polka has the means to destroy IX THEMSELVES that may very well be rooted in Equilibrium.
âI won't let them hurt you!â
'Sophia' glared sidelong at the muzzle of the gun that prodded her temple. To say she'd expected this was an understatement, as she'd seen it within Nous' calculations some time ago. Marauders from the Annihilation Gang sought to perform their witless acts of destruction for tribute to their indifferent Aeon, and that day, their eyes had turned in the wrong direction. Some might say it was the last mistake they'd ever make. While some pillaged the dropship they'd been traveling aboard with other civilian passengers, other bound and fettered the rest of them and the crewmen in plasma chords that hissed as it tightened around the hostages' bodies.
"Harmony, wait one moment," 'Sophia' instructed the understandably distraught cyborg, though the gunman at her flank prodded her again in annoyance.
Dark browns drifted over to one of the Annihilation Gangmen' spacecraft as if glancing at an ally to make their move, and the pull of causality responded flawlessly. A muffled, concussive boom sounded within the craft like a drum before an explosion blasted metal in an omnidirectional onslaught, shrapnel whizzing trough the air faster than bullets as several fired through the skulls of their captors, the one doing so with her crying out as he was hit and he was buffeted by the flying metal. Like bullets did the metal take out their captors effortlessly, several falling dead to the ground in unison while a harmless gust of hot wind breezed past them. 'Sophia' helped herself to Harmony's binds and cut the other woman free, a gunman's gun backfiring as the impact killed them instantly.
The chaos that unfolded was almost cartoonish, but within a minute, the marauders were dead and their fellow passengers gawked, absolutely dumbfounded.
And to think, this was barely a sliver of a fraction of her power.
"Are you alright? That should be the last of them, I hope..."

polemos600 has always been plagued with visions. unbeknownst to him, it gets worse each cycle as more data is stored within his code thanks to his predecessor. there is already a strangeness he feels since coming to okhema. things don't seem quite right, like everything is tilted on its side. most importantly, it feels like something is missing -- something important.
no, it feels like someone. mydei sees him out of the corner of his eye. there is an expectation of someone to watch his back in battle only to find no one there. he hates this feeling but he's taken steps to learn how to ignore it and do what must be done as a chrysos heir.
but when something new and unsettling appears, it leaves the prince speechless. it's weird, when he looks at her, like she's meant to be there and an intruder at the same time. it's like he has contradictory intuition. mydei doesn't know everyone is okhema, let alone the grove, and yet being unfamiliar with her feels much more dangerous than anyone else.
all mydei can do is shake his head and shoving the conflicting feelings away. if anyone knew what he felt, they would surely brand him with madness. instead he faces the woman and shakes his head. " please, stand. it's my duty to push back the black tide. "
Perhaps it was fortunate that this guise in this world was merely as a simple human woman who would die as early as many those in Amphoreus did. Not a true death, but certainly not living beyond a short few years. It was nothing to those that were truly immortal, but for a human already living an extended lifespan and would repeat this cycle millions of times over, well--she pitied him.
It was obvious, too. There was a friend he was expecting, an empty vector all sunflowers and wintery hair who completed this prince. Who competed with him over everything and nothing. 'Sophia' had witnessed them in Okhema in one cycle, dead the next, with the Flame Reaver killing them based on the cruelty of necessity. Mydeimos might not be aware of it, but who else but a cherished friend knew the other's weakness?
It was pitiable, but it was necessary. Nous' calculations had seen it, and so had those that had constructed this sort of recurrence to dupe and entrap that idiot of a First Genius.
All the same, 'Sophia' obeyed the prince and straightened. This would be the time of his quasi-isolation, wouldn't it? After attaining Nikador's Coreflame, so would he be self-exiled to Castrum Kremnos and the hinterlands beyond Okhema's shining citadel.
"Are you injured, Your Highness?" 'Sophia' offered, feigning ignorance to his regenerative state. "The Twilight Courtyard is still partially intact. Perhaps some of Lady Hyacine's supplies still remain."
