Summary:
Thorin Oakenshield is the crown prince of one of the strongest kingdoms in Middle-earth, but over the last year, the kingdom has struggled to maintain its position among the ruling powers of Middle-earth. Erebor was held under vicious siege by the dragon Smaug, who terrorised the land and wiped out the nearby human settlement of Dale. The hardship forces Erebor into a difficult position, creating no other choice but for King Thror to seek alliances with other kingdoms and races through the bonds of marriage. Will Thorin see this as his duty to his kingdom, or take another path entirely?

“Separate them,” Thror ordered.
“No!” Thorin roared. “Sigin'adad, please give us a chance to explain!”
“Thorin, you have caused enough trouble for this mountain. Let the hobbit return to his own people. We will speak after.” The King turned and walked away with the older hobbit and let the guards carry out his decree.
They were separated from each other immediately as the guards ripped them from each other's grasp. They dragged Bilbo back by the arms, and the hobbit winced in pain. Most of these soldiers had never touched a hobbit, and in their struggle to keep hold of the slippery creature, they were hurting him.
Thorin elbowed the dwarf, holding him in the face, and reached for Bilbo, who was trying to do the same. Their fingers never met, as his knees were kicked out from under him, and he hit the ground hard, his hair spilling in front of him. He looked up with a snarl, baring his teeth like a wild animal, and tried again. This time, he was punched in the chest just hard enough to knock the wind out of him with a warning to stay down. Bilbo screamed his name. He looked up to see him beating his fists against the chest of the dwarf holding him. When he realised he couldn't fight his way out, he bit the restraining hand, causing the guard to drop him. Before the hobbit could get his legs under him, another stepped in to grab him, catching him around the neck to avoid getting bitten. Bilbo spluttered, tears streaming down his face.
“Let go of him!” Thorin’s shout was cut short when Dwalin appeared in front of him.
“Get a hold of yourself, Thorin.” His friend growled.
“They’ll hurt him!” He looked at his friend, whom he had not seen in months, and willed him to understand what he could not say.
Dwalin looked behind him, where Bilbo was haphazardly dropped onto the floor, lying half on his side and rubbing at his neck. He was small and slippery, but he was no match for inherent strength. Even still, it took several to subdue him without using lethal force. He was surrounded by guards with terror and uncertainty in his eyes, and Thorin was breaking at the sight of it, unable to offer any comfort or assurances.

The Company of Thorin Oakenshield could no longer be described as a ‘merry gathering’.
Bilbo Baggins sat at the edge of the campfire, hugging his knees to his chest, and looked just as dejected as the others surrounding the warm, flickering flames. The woodland river was a little way behind where they had set up camp, not close enough to see, but close enough for hobbit ears at least to pick out the rushing and burbling of water. They were on the edge of Mirkwood now, the Elvenking’s Halls a full day of travel behind them, and were about to start crossing the Long Marshes.
At least, that had been the plan. Bilbo was no longer certain what was going to happen.

There was definitely an agenda when they wrote/played the scenes between Thorin and Bilbo, because I swear to god the romantic tension is intense, complete with aborted confessions and swelling music. But the book? The book is not very shippable at all.
They really worked to put that romance in there.
The gay agenda is real, and Peter Jackson is behind it.
