Tonight, I bid my last farewell to woman I knew as the most unconditionally loving person I have ever known. May her spirit of forgiveness live in me as I am not kind when crossed. However, she taught me that everyone is not perfect and that is why one has to forgive even when they have done you wrong. Her joy was to read. She was an extremely intelligent woman with an uncanny wit that only those who knew would get it because she either mispronounced or completely missed the punchline but you knew exactly what she was inferring. This will be one of my all-time favorite tributes for a POTUS. I am glad to see all this love pouring for 41. But that makes me wonder where was all this outpouring when he was seeking re-election back in ‘92? It was my first presidential election I was finally allowed to vote (I had missed ‘88 because I was 17 then). And I also learned the integral parts of all the bureaucracies of getting elected for a second term. I worked at the Registrars’ Office - that’s right I collected and counted your votes. Nonetheless, I was extremely disappointed to find out first hand the incumbent POTUS had lost. In all, all politics aside, I will say this: 41 was my commander in chief and while at the time I took it for granted, I am honored to have served under his command. R.I.P. 41 - we’ll meet someday.
