I also learned the hard way that you're not supposed to drill into the paper with the pencils and blend like its chalk. It'll peel up the layers. That what those little weird spots are😅

Apart from the mechanical pencil used to add dimension, I did not use a black colored pencil for this and I'm pleasantly surprised with the results. As per usual, my beloved is the subject and he looks adorably unhinged if I do say so myself.

Also, I refuse to gatekeep my method for anyone who would like to know. I mixed my crimson red, amethyst purple, and ultramarine blue in layers to achieve the rich, warm black tone. Art👏is👏 for👏 everyone✨️

So, as aging humans often do from time to time, I lost my spark. Metamorphosing into a full fledged adult takes alot out of you, physcially, emotionally, and psychologically. That might sound dramatic, but that shit really does send you plummeting down onto the pavement and curb stomping you when you no longer have the energy to stay on your feet and stand against the onslaught of nihilistic dread and depressive episodes every time I choose to step outside, sometimes not even then. The opposite of domestic bliss.

Being queer and neurodivergent just piles on top of that already absurd list of responsibilities you must take on to properly navigate your life, and as such, I gave up drawing. I drew for years as a child because it was my peace. I have decided I want to feel that again as my life has become tumultuous and because of my neglect, my creative spirit has begun to atrophy. It is jarring to watch me lose my skills in real time whenever I sat down to sketch something casually. Between working full time and going to late night classes in the evenings during the week, I need to do something simple and cathartic to help me recenter myself. This sketch looks like dog buns to me, but I am posting it anyways because this might help me stay accountable. I'm going to start drawing again.
