I've always found it harder to draw/paint horse heads from a front view, so I make studies like this one to practice that.

Water soluble oil paint on paper. I had the work of one of my favourite painters - Joaquín Sorolla - on my mind as I worked on this painting.

Horse studies in water soluble oil paint on paper. I wanted to focus on painting lighter coloured horses and the "blue" shadows from the play of light on their bodies.
