the narrative of argentinians being Uniquely racist in particular hinges on the perception of south america as a backward continent with an exceptionally regressive, uncivilized culture and populace. so much of this xenophobia is rooted in the belief that south americans are Uniquely lamebrained and as such are capable of being Uniquely bigoted. this rhetoric manages to portray south americans as both primitive, violent, uncultured savages, and as privy to all of the privileges of a white european, when it is convenient.

all of that while conflating jewish south americans with nazis (besides, the great european immigration wave happened before ww2 anyway), as well as participating in the continued erasure of ethnic minorities in argentina. not to mention that talking about racism in argentina as if it is some inherent trait of the Inferior South American Mind and not the pervasive systemic issue it is also hinders earnest discussions of the issues ethnic minorities face.
