The Lonely Monster

Valentine’s day. A romantic holiday, and one she always wanted to participate in. She never really felt right doing so, after all Ritsuka received so much chocolate that it couldn’t be good for them. Luckily thought, she had gotten quite close to Hakuno, even going so far as to form a new contract with her. And now, this year. It felt right. So she made chocolate, trying her best to make them look, and taste, amazing.

She wasn’t flashy in giving her gift, after all the chocolate could do most of the talking for her, right? So she handed her box of bolt shaped chocolate to Hakuno, smile on her face and humming escaping her lips.

“Tastes.. Good..?”

A slight head tilt

“I.. Hope.. It does.. Made.. Them for.. You.. Hehehe...”

Now though, she was a servant. A spirit with another chance at life. So she made sure to learn this time around. It was actually more enjoyable than she expected. Not everything  she read was fun or exciting, but it was all interesting. She really didn’t expect so much to be contained in these book, but these books had tales that could cover what happened over years, even centuries at times. 

Frans words seemed to stop Elizabeth dead in her tracks. For an uneasily long moment, she was perfectly still and silent. What Fran had said, was not something that she normally heard. It seemed that Elizabeth was unsure of how to react to such a statement. Then suddenly she began to move again, continuing to walk down the hall.

“Thank you, Fran. If we believe in each other we can do anything.”

Her words came out roughly. It was not the normal energetic tone of Elizabeth’s voice. Instead, it was the forced cadence of one attempting to hold back tears. If the floodgates broke, would Fran understand why she was crying? Elizabeth would rather not find out all things considered. 

After a few more steps, Elizabeth again froze. For just a moment in her self-centered life of hedonism, guilt was creeping its way into Elizabeth’s heart. Fran had said something so kind to her and yet Elizabeth was dragging her off to do something that only she would enjoy. Yet again she was being just as selfish as she had been in her original life. 

A huffing sound floated out from her lips as she sighed. Elizabeth turned towards Fran, a half genuine half forced smile on her face.

“But say, before this idol stuff, why don’t we do something that you like? To get us into the idol spirit!”

A step in the right direction or just an attempt to soothe a guilty conscious? In this case, not even Elizabeth knew.

Had.. She said something wrong..? Elizabeth seemed like she was pretty upset for a moment there. She even stopped speaking and moving. Which Fran had failed to get her to do pretty much this entire time. Though saying she believes in the other certainly doesn’t seem like the wrong thing to say.. Maybe something else happened and Fran just hadn’t realized?

Oh, never mind she was soon being thanked. That was a good thing. Even if her stopping had Fran worried again, and that huff. Though knowing Elizabeth she was just.. Well.. Doing something odd. It was a little hard to explain Elizabeth’s actions past that.

Ah.. Something she would like? What would Fran like to do.. There wasn’t a lot to choose from. Or maybe there was too much? It was Chaldea, and now Fran had a friend accompanying her so.. She could do a lot more than she would pick by herself. But she had to pick something Elizabeth would like.. Oh! She had an idea

“Ughh.. Ah. Agh?” ‘You wear a lot of different outfits, maybe we can go look at clothes..?’

“Heeh? Is that so?” She was getting better at this or at least Mordred thought so. It made her wonder if there really is everyone here. Then again, she was the odd one in the war but her and her master back then were just weirdos. At her last comment, Mordred laughed a bit. 

“I’m actually glad of that. It’s nice to see a friendly face.” 

It was a nice feeling, knowing that somebody was happy to see her. And a bit odd, after all they were enemies and.. Friends? At one point..? Emotions were confusing, especially when you didn’t have memories to go with them.. Actually, maybe she should ask about that

“Uhhhh.. Agh.. Ugah.” ‘Do you remember everything?’

Oh, maybe she should ask if she wanted help finding the others?

“You dead?”

“Grhh..”
