Nothing like being hard launched back into a fandom at work
NEW DISTRICT 7 HEADCANON
They have these watchtowers set up everywhere for surveillance.
Gotta find a way to work it into my story somehow, I really like this idea. It would make sense for districts with higher populations or more rebellious tendencies to have different security measures set up, like the more fortified electric fence in 11
What of they used old fire outlooks/if a job in 7 was fire watch because of how many forests they have!!!
What if because of how dense the forest is around towns/work areas PKs gotta use these instead of ground patrol like they can in other districts!!
YESSSSSSS YOU’RE COOKING🔥🔥🔥
I imagine they’d have a very strict fire protocol set up. Do you think putting out fires would be a peacekeeper job, or would they have it as a whole different line of work for the district people? Maybe just a subdivision of the peacekeepers that you have to get extra training for.
And yeah the dense forests would definitely be a good reason to have these. Some at the lumber yards to keep an eye on the worksite and the surrounding area, but they could also watch for storms/fires or any wild animals that get too close. They’d have to have a radio system to communicate with the ground team.
I think it could go both ways!!! Firefighting is a very important role (especially in wooded areas!!) but it is also HARD work yk.. on one hand I could see it being part of a PK’s job, but on the other it could be up to the Districts!
First off I think fire management is a very important part of D7, and many higher up positions in the district would likely revolve around it! Im in an area where forest fires are very common, but so are prairie fires, and usually the two have very different causes. I think a subdivision of PKs would be trained to find out if someone started the fire or natural causes. (Also especially in 7 arson is a capital offense). I could see D7 having specific people in each lumbar yard whose job is to extinguish/handle fires, and PKs not being trained but being the ones to handle large fire fighting equipment like trucks and even helicopters.
I feel like in general District people are seen as expendable, so safety regulations are less strict and dangerous jobs are more common. Jobs like EMS, fire fighting, and peace keeping are all done by a District person for a reason, and that’s because they’re seen as less then. With that there are levels and D2 is still above everyone else, so their people are more likely to be less at risk than others! Funny given that they’re the soldiers of Panem, but as a military kid I’ve seen the perks and kinda equivocate US military status to that of a PK.
If the Capital games did happen I think the country would be divided into two divisions of horrified and very pleased (obviously), but the thing Ive been thinking of has been how would it have effected the Capital/District mingling after.
Rant below.. be warned

I just know the universe was chuckling when it gave me the passion and love for writing and then also gave me the inability to write with grammar rules oml
Everdeen sister doodles
Do yall think hurricanes/tornados are a major problem the districts face? I can’t even imagine the devastation that a natural disaster would cause on districts like D9/10/11 and even D4.
Do you think these disasters are televised to the Capital or is it something that is just glossed over? Maybe the reason some of the outer districts struggled to ‘become’ careers is because something awful happened early own into the games and it wreaked their chances of really defining themselves as competitors and getting those advantages
I know Im a baby on here but also did anyone else find it so sad to ask someone for a recommendation.. like please say Im a good person so I can leave you and all that you’ve taught me for the past 4 years in the past.

People can fight me on this and I know 100% it is showing the hate I have for this type of architecture but ONLY the Capital would think modern architecture is pretty.
Writhing on the floor about this but the clean white look/aesthetic I dont think would be found comforting or pretty by any other district (even D1!!!!!!!). In the Capital I even feel it would be kinda like a ‘different’ style but I could also see cuz it contrasts with like, the hyper color of the people. I just cant see Victor Villages (I do not subscribe to the D12 movie village look) looking modern.
Especially because its just so like.. outta touch?? Not out of touch but the normal district citizen does usually have the ability or the means to make everything look so ‘clean (soulless)’ or like they own nothing. Like even the minimalist style does not seem like something a Victor’s house would have. And D2 I understand and even headcannon has a more brutalistic aesthetic to the architecture but even house wise I think the general community would have a more mountain/Colorado vibe to it.
I am in no way attacking people who like this aesthetic, this is coming from someone with a very old world/collector’s style who itches at white walls. I just don’t see any of the district villages having this aesthetic (the victor’s apartments in the Capital however I can see)
I lowkey understand the Game makers giving Haymitch a 1 he literally walked in there, showed no skills, ran his mouth and left LMAO
“Its so bad, I wanna give you a zero. But thats not possible, so I give you, a one.”
Headed to a concert and I haven’t been this excited in a long time!!
The ‘golden era’ of the Hunger Games for Capitol citizens was the ‘sixties’ and you cannot convince me otherwise.
Like you know how tv shows always have the best series, or artists the best ‘era’ … well, for the citizens of the Capitol, the sixties (aka 60-70th games) were when the Games were at their peak, most of the Victors were careers (notably 62-65, with Enobaria, Gloss, Cashmere and Finnick).
Those 10 years had the best reception, the most lavish arenas, the biggest crowds in the Capitol, the most bets on tributes, and the Victors became the most popular. The Games were well established, President Snow felt untouchable, and for a groomed Capitol citizen, they truly felt like the glory days.
I bet you it would’ve dragged on for a while before new things were added in. Small hc of mine is sooner or later things would start ‘sponsoring’ the arena itself. Like a video game company sponsoring an arena to make it seem like the tributes were players or something!
Kinda feel like the fandom treats Peeta the same way the capital would.. just in the fact he is usually forgotten/put to the side for the preferred victor/character Katniss. But also idk

I require, bc I know you're horse-people like I am, thg Districts as horse breeds or horse disciplines (your choice). Thanks! <3
So it's kinda gonna be a mix of both!
D1: As a horse breed they are some type of warmblood. Something you wouldn't bat an eye at when at a Dressage show but also wouldn't go find the owner to ask about their breeding yk? I think for discipline they would be Dressage. Beautiful from an outside perspective but from a rider's eye and general knowledge you know something dark usually lies under (the upper level!) training. A small hc of mine is that D1 has a very small amount of civilians that works in horse training for Capitolites who want a dressage/show jumping horse. I think D10 is not involved in this at all, instead D1 has their own facilities to breed and produce these horses.
D2: Thoroughbreds! Especially OTTB. These horses come in all shapes and sizes but all the ones I know are extremely athletic and competitive. As for discipline I think they would be a working/police horse. I know it isn't exactly a discipline, and it is also probably an easy train of thought, but these horses are also very athletic and cool under pressure, much like how I think D2 citizens in general are.
D3: I think D3 would be a Morgan, small and agile while being incredibly smart. I think they would be western versatility, these horses need to be smart with/on their feet and agile, kind of like how I think many D3 victors were in their games.
D4: Not a breed, but I think they are the ponies from Assateague Island! I don't have any discipline for them.
D5/6/7/8: Some type of Draft, these guys would be the ones doing carting. I could see them doing both shows and actual cart work.
D9/10/11: These guys are your mustangs and quarter horses. I think they are ranch work or barrels/pole bending. Funnily enough I think the citizens should be compared to ranching horses, and the victors should be ranch horses turned western pleasure/gymakhana. Another small hc is a LOT of people out here own horses. Equine husbandry is very big, and the equine community is tight knit because these creatures are their livelihoods. Cars are not commonplace and horses are, they're main transport and are usually components of your job. I also think in certain areas horses are either very loosely documented or kept with strict records, it simply depends on how rural the area is. Peacekeepers use horses but it's easy to distinct between the two because PKs have warmbloods that tower over everything. Equine Herpes is also a BIG deal out here, and when there is a case the citizens take it very seriously!
D12: No real thoughts on the breed/discipline but I think the mines use mules or donkeys. If you wanna be horrified look up old donkey mine stables, where the animals spent their whole lives underground. I think this is kind of how the donkeys are kept. I don't think it's a commonly known fact/very talked about but in the older mines this system is still used instead of electronic powered rails. In general I don't think the D12 mines are as kept as the quarries in D1 and D2 are, with the animal situation just another way to stop D12 from being able to truly profit from coal production (slower and less effective but also just a horrible way to kill moral).
fav horse breed?
(mine is either the AQHA bc that's what my irl mare is or the Ardennes bc they're so fucking cute, ughhh)
My girl is a Hanoverian and so I am very partial to them! Realistically I think I would buy a Holsteiner when(if) I decide to own again (10+ years from now) but my favorite horse and the one I have always wanted is a Cleveland Bay.
Even though I likely will never be able to own one I find their history so fascinating. I remember when I was younger I loved the breed so much because I liked the name and now I like them more for their build! Even though my mare is not a Cleveland Bay I think both share the traits I like! They’ve got the roman nose, dapples, and kind of bigger build while still being agile!
