The long awaited return. Hate/Lab presents its first lengthy production in nearly a year: HOYNE FEST. Located in the original Hatred Laboratory and the former apartment of Steak and Jake, Hoyne Fest is part party and play. The main event? Eugene Ionesco's brilliant play THE BALD SOPRANO In a limited engagement of two nights, and yes, it's performed in Steak and Jake's old apartment. In addition, each night will open with a different asortment of short plays and readings by Hate/Lab and their close friends. The show will take place at 1860 N Hoyne. The show will start at 8 pm. Tickets go live July 1st. PLEASE NOTE: This show has EXTREMELY limited seating. If you plan on going, get them tickets.
The Sarcoma Cycle
From the press release:Director/playwright Logan Berry presents the world premiere of The Sarcoma Cycle, a new trilogy of plays, opening at the Color Club in June, 2024. Co-produced with The Runaways Lab Theater, Hate/Lab, and 11:11 Press, The Sarcoma Cycle is the first repertory production in Chicago in over a decade and will provide audiences a maximalist feast for the senses.Set in three distinct time periods, each a distinct genre, the plays are connected by themes of technology, illness, death, and sacrifice. They include Nanoblade 1998, Spring Break 2020, and The Mourning Light 2050.
Each play features the same seven actors: Jake Flum, Dylan Fahoome, Gwen Hilton, Philip Johnson, Daniel Mozurkewich, Electra Tremulis, Sara Zalek.
With costume design by Ruth Forberg, videography by Joe Goudreault, choreography by Nina Feliciano, intimacy choreography by Maddie Baird, fight choreography by Michael Saubert, stage management by Miles Sennett, sound design by Nick Meryhew, dramaturgy by Jessie McCarty, AI Avatars by DeepSnakes (Karina Bush and Daniel Harlow), programs by Mike Corrao, box office by Chicken Noodle, and artwork by Christopher Norris and Gannon Reedy."
Dead Youth, or, the Leaks
Aboard a hijacked containership, Julian Assange leads a chorus of Dead Youth to Magnetic Island to upload them to the Internet before they completely decay. Co-produced with The Runaways Lab and High Concept Labs, Dead Youth, or the Leaks premiered at Mana Contemporary in June of 2017 and toured to The DeBartolo Performing Arts Center in South Bend, Indiana in November 2017.
The cast included Dylan Fahoome, Will Green, Candace Hundell, Ronen Kohn, Quenna Lené, Gannon Reedy, Jo Schaffer, and Maggie Vaughn
With Butoh intervention by Sara Zalek, a Meat Deity created and performed by Mariel Harari, co-production by Billie Howard and Olivia Lilley, movement by Will Green, costume design by Mikaila Von Merr, sound design and composition by Nick Meryhew, dramaturgy and set design by Jack Gruszczynski, design assistance by Kavya Tiwari, a text by Joyelle McSweeney, and direction by Logan Berry.
A FESTIVAL OF HOLES
