Johnson said this moment, in which Nick thinks he’s found the serial killer among Jess’s writing students, was all instinct. “Our bodies did what they would naturally do,” Johnson says. “Zooey really likes doing physical comedy, and we were clowning around, because I think all the script said was ‘Jess tries to wrestle the notebook away from Nick.’ It does look like we were humping. I’ll be perfectly honest: With New Girl, I don’t expect anything and I have no idea what is in the brains of our writers.”
How awesome would it have been to have a big Day-Miller wedding in season 7? Nick’s mom, brother, cousins, and other Chicago relatives show up while Jess’s parents, sister, and other family come too and it becomes Portland vs. Chicago. Bonnie and Joan and Bob would’ve been hilarious together, and so would Jamie and Abby. All the fun and chaotic characters back together.
Nick + Knowing Jess
I love how Nick and Jess want everyone to see how their table is weak and it ends up being indestructible, no matter how much they try to destroy it.
Earlier in the episode, Jess tells Cece that Nick is the kind of guy who break things, but yet, he can’t damage their table.
Major bonus when Nick is trying to cheer Jess up after Sam breaks up with her and you see the newspaper table lying between them

New Girl Week: Day 6, (A) Favorite Moment → Schmidt helps Nick realize he’s still in love with Jess.
Jake Johnson’s thoughts on the idea of Zooey Deschanel being in “Hoops”. I’M DEAD at his reasoning.
I firmly believe that, if Nick hadn’t stood up and held out his hand (in The Cubicle, S6E12), Jess would have stayed with him in that cubicle all freaking night.
Aww she’s using his jacket as a pillow.

Never leave me alone again.
Didn’t even notice that he hugged her back. 😍
And they did make it work!!
Hate how this scene is two episodes before they break up, foreshadowing it. They’re so confident in their relationship despite the issues of sharing a room. I love how in S7, we see Nick using his room as an office, with tons of little pictures of Jess and gifts from her while they share Jess’s room together.
Unpopular opinion, but I actually really like how Nick and Jess were built up in S6. It was slow for the first handful of episodes, but I thought the second half was great.
6x01 House Hunt:
-Nick spends a summer with his GF, but dedicates his book to Jess because of their history and her pushing him to go to New Orleans.
6x05 Jaipur Aviv:
-Nick goes to Jess first about Reagan moving in, and immediately backtracks when she mentions living with her ex and his new GF.
-He again hesitates to ask Reagan and wants Jess to tell him that he’s doing the right thing.
6x10 Christmas Eve Eve:
-Nick reveals how he had noticed Jess’s squirrelly behavior since he got back in 6x01.
-He demands to know why his actions are never good enough.
-When Reagan arrives, he tells Jess he felt super excited like a kid on Christmas, but he didn’t even get up to greet his GF.
-And then of course, Jess’s gift of Darlene Love.
6x11 Raisin’s Back:
-Jess gets dragged in between Reagan and Nick, who wants her reassurance and needs her to play middle man.
6x12 The Cubicle:
-Nick confides to Jess about Reagan not reading his book.
-He tells her how she got scared when things were good during their relationship and he asked if he was vulnerable when they were together.
6x14 The Hike:
-Nick eats her leftover raisins... enough said.
6x15 Glue:
-Basically the entire episode... Nick has Jess help him put his books together, and unknowingly to him, it was Jess helping Reagan find the right words to help him be less afraid of reading at the bookstore. Reagan alone couldn’t do it.
6x16 Operation Bobcat:
-Nick expresses disappointment to Jess when he receives a necklace from Reagan as his Valentine’s Day gift.
6x17 Rumspringa:
-Nick is alarmed by Jess’s behavior and recruits Schmidt to have all three of them go on a trip before Jess becomes Principal.
-He spends the whole trip trying to get her to relax.
-He looks visibly comforted when Jess apologizes about yelling at him in the cellar and tells him how he has grown up by owning a bar and writing a novel.
-He also reacts visibly when she tells him his room is not childish and has a style.
-Nick sees why Jess is nervous and tells her that it’s great how she’s been on this path towards her goal and gives her the jacket he bought as a substitute for her blazer.
6x18 Young Adult: Nick agrees to talk to some students about Pepperwood and then comes in willingly again. He buys her a coffee giftcard and tries to give it to her secretly through her students. Nick tells Jess that she always comes through for him.
6x19 Socalyalcon VI:
-Nick and Jess pick out an outfit together and then break into Schmidt and Cece’s house together.
-Flashback of Nick asking Jess a bunch of things, including her answering a preteen a question about Pepperwood.
-He asks her to make him a sheet cake and is taken aback when Jess tells him that she’s being a substitute girlfriend.
-We see a montage of eight scenes where Nick and Reagan have needed Jess.
-The couple drags her to Socalyalcon.
-After she leaves, Nick is unable to answer a question about his book, Reagan doesn’t know what to say, so he uses the same answer Jess gave in the flashback from earlier.
-He calls Jess wanting to know why she disappeared.
6x20 Misery:
-As soon as Nick learns about Reagan’s promotion, he calls Jess instead of talking to Reagan. He says Jess likes talking things out and he wishes she would call back because he’s falling apart.
6x21 San Diego:
-After Nick breaks up with Reagan and comes back to the loft, the first thing he does is call Jess.
-He tells Bob how Jess has a giant heart that is part compass and part flashlight, and she’s the greatest person he’s ever met. Also tells Bob how Jess always says the right thing and he really needs her.
6x22 Five Stars for Beezus:
-Nick reads a passage from his book about Jessica Night rushing to Pepperwood and finding him attractive. Mentions how the characters are based on real people who don’t work together.
-After seeing Jess run out from the reading, says that Pepperwood screwed up and didn’t get a second chance.
-Ignores the book publisher and calls Jess to ask if she was at his reading. He sounds super happy and excited when asking her. Nick then tells her that he broke up with Reagan.
-Nick tells Schmidt how he wanted to tell Jess his good news, but she wouldn’t answer his calls.
-While waiting for his publisher, Schmidt asks why Nick is fine with his breakup. He dismisses Schmidt and is more concerned about Jess not calling him back.
-Schmidt tells Nick that he’s been in love so th Jess since the moment he saw her. Nick is unable to deny it.
-Nick corrects Schmidt and admits that it was before he opened the door. It was when he saw her struggling to get into the building.
-Nick is shocker when he learns that Jess is moving out.
-Nick refuses to entertain the idea of killing off Jessica Night, because she’s the reason Pepperwood gets out of bed every day. He declares that he’s not afraid.
-Enters Jess’s emtpy room with a look of disbelief and sadness. Hears Jess yelling from outside and watches her trying to convince a dog to make noise with a smile on his face.
-He rushes around trying to find her.
-Yells at the delivery man because he had to tell his BEST FRIEND THAT HE WAS IN LOVE WITH HER.
-Nick stares at Jess when he realizes she heard him and is finally in front of him. Smiles in awe when he stands next to her.
-ELEVATOR MAKE OUT
soulmates >> Pepperwood, 2.14
Remember back in S3, Nick asked Jess to take him to the principal’s office and punish him? I’d bet all of Nick’s Pepperwood earnings that they very much did that after S6, in Jess’s office at Banyon Canyon. Maybe even as Julius Pepperwood and Jessica Night.

The framed note from Jess in Nick’s office in S7 is everything

Jessica xxxx
This brings me so much joy. Imagine Nick officially signing his book deal shortly after the S6 finale and getting back together with Jess. And he frames this messy note because his #1 supporter wrote it. Jess is in his book, Nick dedicated it to her becuase she pushed him to go to New Orleans with Reagan, she helped glue together his books, and comforted him (through Reagan) at his first reading, had some of her students give him their thoughts on his book, AND showed up at a reading to surprise him (even though she ran out).
