the writing isn’t quite finished and I don’t think I can get it done by tomorrow. I’m losing my pet today and I can’t focus on the fic right now.

Ringo nods his head to the papers in Peter’s hand. “What are they?”

“Hm. Prospective script. They sent it to me a week ago, but I just got it today. I’ve been out of town recently, what with everything going on. It’s why I was up in your corner of Weybridge this morning.”

Ringo had rather wondered. He curls his fingers around the over-long hems of his jumper sleeves, worrying at a loose thread. “Is it any good?”

Peter looks from him, to the script, and chuckles. “Tell you what—I don’t know yet. How about I read it to you and you tell me?”

“If you’d like. What’s it about, then?”

“Well, if you’d let me start, you’d find out.” Peter looks amusedly exasperated. “But if you must spoil yourself, it’s about an attorney who becomes enamored of a hippie woman.”

“Does he stay with her?”

“I don’t know yet; I haven’t finished. If you don’t stop asking questions you’ll never know either.”

Ringo ducks his head, contrite. “Sorry.”

Peter waves him off. “Shall I begin?”

“Go ahead.”
