Local Summer

Mike McLaughlin stopped by the studio to take some pictures yesterday, always good to see him. If you've ever been to a show in Asbury Park chances are you've seen him hanging off a P.A. getting the best pictures of your favourite bands. He also knows how to take pictures of lightning which is nothing short of impressive.

All through 2014 me and my friend Pete would find days when we were both free (which wasn't often) and spend an afternoon locked away in his Little Eden studio working on music that would become the Local Summer record. This is a picture of him at work and his 70's Les Paul Custom which has no frets, hardly any finish, rusty pickups and looks like it fell down more than one flight of stairs. It's also the best sounding guitar I've ever played and I'm lucky that he let me use it. I went in there with the intention of making music that was less than perfect and this guitar was a great reminder that sometimes that can work out.
