just chucking some things around here

so the fashion in this official art is like ~1780s europe i think However those are also the dead so that adds an extra layer of are they dressed from the time period they were alive or are they dressed a couple decades behind the fashionable youth to signify their anachronism without being too unfamiliar or are they dressed somewhat modern "the long king is very modern" for whatever reason. that being said iirc owhe was mentioned as being regency era which works out with the 2nd option so let's put this give or take around the turn of the century
timmer i was looking at a lot of google search doctors from around 1800s 1810s but that kinda doesn't come across at all haha. not too sure on their design currently since historical clothing is always deeply gendered - i dont think cyshane would be particularly accepting of them as a doctor if they were "too feminine" but that could also be the point so eh. went with the poet shirt since other people did and tbh it mightve been better w/o the waistcoat (they would look more of a mess).
looked at a lot of riding habits & the like for arkhetarias. put her around 1780s as well on account of corpse allegiance. as you can see i initialy wanted her in a cloak for the hood but then i was like,...is this too much? would she actually be wearing all that? so the result is the coat getting a historically inaccurate hood sorry. the hood is necessary bc from the start i knew arkhetarias' face was Not going to be in this 1) currently too mysterious for it to be plot-appropriate 2) from the casting call it's likely she's racialised so i want to wait until there's more information on that before making hard decisions on what she might look like 3) also from the casting call shes hiding being dead so i dont think she'd be too eager to reveal her face 4) dont have a picture of what she looks like in my brain. and a hat would get in the way of being able to see the long king's face, a veil carries the marriage/funeral connotations that don't really fit her rn, a mask has a lot of potential esp w historical context but it really isn't the time for that.
the final outcome of the long king is less outright regal than intended but maybe that's appropriate (that one inkblot line + arkhetarias's entire thing. the king's legitimacy is doubtful) hes wearing a tabard thats probably too plain for a king but i was tired and didnt feel like drawing 1 william complicated designs or whatever. since most of his body is covered the face is the only place you can really see the dead flesh which is good because i know what a skull looks like. referenced necrotized flesh rather than proper corpse decay because i thought itd look cooler to contrast the dead/dying flesh with the normal skin and also theres more images of it on wikipedia. i think i should have put more bones outside of his body though
i fumbled the bag on the environment badly like what the fuck are those values but hey! blue flowers
why are you crying?
