AZARIAH ARKWRIGHT

The leader of the Order of the Devouring Silence, a cult which masquerades as a legitimate religious commune (as cults tend to do). Their patron, known as The Devourer, requires frequent sacrifice in order to bless members of the cult with a life free of physical and emotional pain -- at the cost of someone else's pain.

When Azariah was younger, the Order was having trouble finding enough sacrifices to satisfy the Devourer's raucous appetite. So he researched, and studied, and eventually found a way to impregnate his wife with an immortal child.

Azariah is a stern, no-nonsense man who reserves his affections for those he's trying to manipulate (usually his wives and children, both of which he has many). Seen as a benevolent link between their world and the Devourer's plane, Azariah is looked up to by his commune of pain-free, brainwashed followers.

ATARAH ARKWRIGHT

Azariah's first wife, who was chosen to bear their immortal child. Atarah is fiercely loyal to her husband and the cult, and had no second thoughts about the grotesque ceremony that was her first son's birth.

Her son, Zephaniah, was cut out of her in such a violent way that she was left paralyzed from the waist down. She was one of the people most involved in grooming Zeph into his role as a sacrificial lamb.

ZEPHANIAH ARKWRIGHT

Zephaniah is the Order's permanent sacrificial lamb -- or, at least, he was. Starting at the age of 10, he was used to supply the cult with a pain-free life by suffering as much as possible. Despite this, their manipulations were so effective that not only did he not resist, but he fell in love with his own father, believing himself to be better off under his care.

Zeph has many younger brothers and sisters he was expected to care for, parentified near-immediately. The Arkwright family and their Order see no issue with incest, so Zeph and all his siblings were trained to endure their abuse with a smile.

Until Zeph started to enjoy it.

ZEPHANIAH ARKWRIGHT ARMATI

Due to the mental and physical trauma of being repeatedly sacrificed, Zeph's psyche snapped, leading him to experience all pain as pleasure instead. At this time, the Devourer lost Its taste for him, as he was no longer suffering.

The Order, led by Zeph's father, kicked him out. He wandered around, changing appearance with each new revival, desperately seeking some way to replicate the "love" his father and family showed him.

His daddy issues aren't the only thing to contend with; anyone who has sex with Zephaniah gets filled with the urge to kill him. It can be resisted, but oftentimes, people don't bother, and Zeph doesn't bother to try and stop it. Sex and murder are love to him.

So, in present day, he's a foul-mouthed ragebaiter whose love language is trying to get someone to beat him to death. Has a love for collars, but still wears the necklace bearing the symbol of his cult on it. He wants to go back.

He wants to go back so bad.

AHIMOTH ARKWRIGHT

The oldest of Zeph's younger siblings. Ahimoth is fiercely jealous of the importance Zeph holds, and as such, was his biggest bully back in the cult. Just as incestuous and just as susceptible to Zeph's murdersex ability, he was particularly cruel to his brother -- only a few months older than him, as they both came from different mothers.

ABILENE ARKWRIGHT

The oldest of Zeph's little sisters, right behind him and Ahimoth. A giggly and happy young woman, she doesn't view her cruelty toward her older brother as cruelty.
