                     she’s hit. pitiful as she tried to keep from bleeding out a force field wedged into her abdomen in an attempt. in moments like these she envies those she knows who heal, wolverine, deadpool, and more; the ones who despite the pain begin to grow numb to each break and snap and shot. where they can reassemble themselves so quickly and easily without flaw, but mortality seemed to be her vice. 

                      tucked snuggly against the now warped car she hides, the desperate urge to scream in rage boiling in her throat. teeth grinding together as she fights her own conscious, the mantra in her mind screaming repeatedly. DONT LOOK AT IT! DONT LOOK AT IT! GOD DAMMIT SUE DONT LOOK AT IT! 

                      the roar of violence and chaos behind her was consuming, each throb of pain and wash of dizziness pulsing in time with the hell around. boots appear in her peripheral and with a weak turn of her head her eyes travel up long legs before finding a familiar but foreign face. the news, she’d seen him on the news before and had a brief encounter with him.

                    why did that feel so final? like a nail slamming in a coffin, where she could scream and frantically fight her way through only to be compressed deeper and deeper into darkness. rest wasn't easy, it hadn’t been in a long time and to hear it leave scarlett’s lips made sue laugh. the soft sound bordering between exhaustion and manic, she hadn’t done enough. not enough to save those that were lost, not enough to keep others from being injured. she’d barely been able to save the few she could, and what was she of a hero if she couldn't save everyone? a failure. 

                      the world itself made her gut twist and cinch, every nerve in her body weakening at the mere thought. she couldn’t fail, it wasn't going to happen. even battered and bruised and barely hanging on she wouldn’t rest, people like her didn't rest. the kept moving till they died.
