Kitteh, you are a bad dom. Also, your spacebar is broken.
Liberal bookshelf is liberal.
I chose the orange section of my bookshelf, and for some reason it all ended up being about GMO foods. Go figure, although "safety orange" is a very bright, eyecatching, alarming and somewhat artificial color, so I guess it works. I tried to work in warm oranges and yellows, with green, blue and black to compliment and contrast all the red/orange/yellow.
As these are books, and we're all pretty familiar with the size and scale of them, it's easy to see that we're up very close in these pictures.
The shape of the spines on a black shelf leads to some wiggly negative space, all though, I really liked the strong linear and implied corn texture of the most out of focus one. Might just be me?
Kind of orangey, might want to up aperture speed to prevent the wigglies.
Favorite shots from brewing- not going to be able to reproduce this again for a little while, although I may have more shots of further along in the process shortly.

Random shots with Camera, part 1
Ad Analysis- Week 14
This is a pretty symmetrical composition. The focal point is the "barrier" created by the book, and the blank space with text under the arch created by the book and hands. Unity is created by the repeating arch shape: the funnel of words, the shape of the book, the shape of the negative spaces.
The text is done in blues and greens in a chaotic, curvilinear sea of "bla-bla-bla", to make it run together, punctuated by word bubbles in pinks, reds and purples. The hands and the book are complimentary to the green and really stand out. By making this a "point of view" type shot, the viewer almost becomes part of it- like those are their hands, their book, and their gaze forward.Â
Viscom Project 2
This three piecer was done with 2" styrofoam boards cut into a fan shape. The background is t-shirt material, while the crocheted yarn is laid on colored felt to try to keep "thin" areas from showing, also to keep the yarn within the lines.Â
The focal point is the red portion of the right most wedge. Looking back at it, I think it might have been more effective to do red, red, white, instead. The crocheted work really brings out the texture of the yarn and this  composition is very "pettable".
Trials and triumphs: Hot glue is VERY hot. I've managed to cook my fingers a few times. By the middle of the second piece, I'd figured out how to assemble one of these much faster and neater than the first one.Â
Sorry about the camera phone pics!
The yarn is currently tucked back to make a neater and more orderly looking arrangement. Planning on doing this with the white and gray fans, and breaking the pattern with the red square. The red square to have a more drippy "fringe".
Sorry for the bad quality- starting on build.

The central figure of the Dragonborn is very low in color. The rocky outcrop and the lower half of his body are low in contrast- they almost seem to blend together. However, the top lighting really focuses on his head and the shape of his helmet. I found the parallel lines of the mist and the dragon (?) tail very interesting. I seem to focus in on his head and follow the swirl of mist to the lower left hand corner.

Change in value- sharp contrast on the bottom lit face is very dramatic! It really stands out on the black background. It's cool blues, reds and purples- which aren't really soothing. It seems more chilling and frightening, than anything else in this asymmetrical composition.

This ad uses contrasting red and green- not too much green, though. Mostly white, which means the red of the Hoover vacum really pops out! It's Christmas themed, which makes the red, green and white very appropriate. It's also very "sanitary" looking, which is appropriate for the Hoover.
I love mid-century modern ads, as sexist as they are. There's something funny about them.
Two artboards, painted in shades of blue (one for base, one for swooshy lines). Styrofoam balls in 6" and 3" sizes, painted. Toothpicks, glue and plastic shopping bags to form the "spikes".Â
Not sure about this- Several yards of burlap, sewn to create bunching, wooden or plastic hoop, painted. Suitably huge and obnoxious rhinestones, possibly couched in with blue thread. Maybe smaller multicolored rhinestones throughout.

Main wedge shape to be done as a foam board sandwich, wrapped in cloth. Maybe padded with batting? Going to use spray adhesive again.
Red and gray sections to be done in bulky weight reclaimed scrap yarn (if available). Fringe hangs loosely.

This ad has a strong horizontal line broken by the figure on the right. To me, it seems like the figure is a gestalt image of a man, made up of the powdery, wispy texture of ash.Â
