have you started your nursing job? curious how you like it so far
i've been in ICU for 4 months and I unno how i feel about it so far
I haven’t started officially as an RN yet, but I’ll be working in the same OR where I did my senior practicum for the last six months of nursing school. I mostly did cardiac and general surgery, with a good amount of liver transplant cases.
I honestly love it. The OR has always been my goal after nursing school, and I’ve been lucky to get to know the nurse managers, nurses, scrub techs, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and everyone else on the team. It’s a really supportive environment. At my hospital, RNs can both circulate and scrub, which was a huge selling point for me.
Are you a new grad or just moved fields? Four months into the ICU is still really early, especially as a new grad. It’s such a steep learning curve that I think it’s normal to still be figuring out how you feel about it. Do you think it’s the ICU itself, the unit culture, or are you just not sure yet?
