wanting  to  win  for  him.  those  simple  words  caught  oliver  completely  off  guard  the  moment  that  they  came  because  they  meant  so  much  more  than  the  simplicity  anyone  else  might  have  taken  from  them.  these  drivers  gave  up  their  lives  from  such  a  young  age  for  the  sake  of  the  sport,  for  the  notion  of  even  a  single  race  win,  putting  their  bodies  on  the  line  every  time  they  put  a  foot  into  the  car,  and  never  did  oliver  think  that  he  had  any  real  impact  on  lukas'  ability  because  .  .  .  well,  lukas  had  it  all  himself.  maybe  it  was  that  self  deprecating  voice  in  the  back  of  his  mind  that  didn't  think  too  highly  of  himself,  that  when  something  went  wrong  -  the  wrong  call  at  the  wrong  time  he  wondered  if  lukas  would  be  better  with  someone  more  experienced  than  him. not  that  oliver  ever  showed  it,  it  was  the  first  rule  practically  of  being  a  race  engineer,  no  matter  what  you  felt,  no  matter  the  guilt,  you  never  let  it  show  to  your  driver  because  you  had  to  be  the  rock  in  a  race,  you  had  to  be  the  calm  voice  in  the  ear  that  didn't  lose  it  no  matter  what.  he  could  beat  himself  up  afterwards,  in  some  place  of  privacy,  but  he  never  ever  let  the  world  see  him  sweat.
