When the Bible says “do not lean on your own understanding,” the Bible is being serious. Your heart is deceitful, your emotions fluctuate, your understanding does not see the overall, big picture.

“It was pride that took lucifer out of heaven. It was pride that took Adam out of paradise. It was pride that took Saul, The first king of Israel out of the Kingdom. It was pride that changed angels into demons. It was pride that changed friends into enemies. Pride ruins everything. Pride is the cancer of the soul and if it’s left undiagnosed and untreated, it will destroy spiritual life.”

“Pride is when you don’t read your Bible, for it’s like saying to God you can do this life without His guidance. That’s why we fall into sin when we are self reliant, for pride is the precursor of ruin.”

“We worry so much about having when we should be worried about who are we becoming. God will give us everything we need, the things that will help us grow in maturity and make us more effective in our ministry, but His hands are tightly clenched to the things we want that will lead us away from Him.”

“Dear God, if today I lose my hope, please remind me that your plans are better than my dreams.”

It’s wild to think of where I’d be without God.

“Sometimes I worry that I’m a terrible Christian. A lot of times actually. I worry that I sin too much and that I don’t pray or read my Bible enough. I worry that I don’t even share my faith enough and that I don’t give enough. Sometimes I worry that I am a complete failure. And then it hits me I AM a complete failure. I’m a terrible Christian. But Jesus is perfect. And by faith, I belong to Him. So I keep trying my best and even though I worry that my best is terrible. He credits me with His Perfection and then covers my failures with Grace.”

“Always leave people better than you found them. Hug the hurting. Kiss the broken. Befriend the lost. Love the lonely. Just like Jesus.”
