I have a hard time asking for help, especially since money is something that everyone is currently struggling with, and I feel bad. But it's worth a try 🥲. ANYTHING and everything is so deeply appreciated, even just sharing this post will mean so much to me. 💓🐰

None of these outfits — and others are not present in the original text of the manga, which is the only source I consider reliable — are goth fashion.

Definitive traits of the outfits: polished/pointed boots that resemble military or biker gear, zip-up tops that appear leathery or otherwise made out of rougher material, biker jacket, leather pants, streetwear-like pants, minimal layering; notably, no headwear unless a hood or a biker helmet counts.

Driving a motorcycle, using a gun, and being involved in criminal activity are important elements of storytelling here. They define the style better since fashion-based subcultures are not empty aesthetics.

To me, it's a mix of お兄系 (oniikei) and details of 悪羅悪羅 (oraora) with a bit more leaning towards biker style fashion.

Definitive traits of the style: casual "cool" clothes, rocker boy and biker gang style elements, pointy/tall shoes, leather, streetwear, jackets, little to no layering. Ora ora tends to focus on black clothes and "rougher" angle of fashion while oniikei leans into more defined streetwear.

Both take heavy inspiration from American and Italian fashion, which is relevant: Death Note creates a particular outlook on American gangs and pseudo-Italian aesthetics. The pistol involved — Beretta 92FS — is of Italian production. Mafia aesthetics, while DN does not feature an actual Italian mafia group, is very intrinsically associated with vague Italian aesthetics. Thus, the fashion style in question has to exist on the intersection of American and Italian fashion perceived through the Japanese lens of the creators.
