This is nurse Médiatrice Batangana RN the surgical theatre manager of the largest referral and teaching hospital in #Rwanda University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK)* Clearly a wonderful spirit, Nurse Médiatrice she runs a tight ship. Along with her very professional staff it was easy for me to integrate seamlessly into the operative flow at CHUK. Of note the one thing you will continually notice in Rwanda is the focus on ever improving process. The surgical theater was no exception. As a visiting surgeon I quickly found myself in familiar territory as easy as 1, 2, 3. We all know Nurses run the show anyway so no surprises there. Coming from a family of nurses who inspired and groomed me it is probably best that way. (Quick learner) Thanks Nurse Médiatrice ! Note: From my previous visit to Rwanda in 2018 I have noted that although the OR’s at CHUK were otherwise well equipped and modern there are certain supplies that are still in great demand. Nurse Médiatrice made me aware of many as it relates to surgery. Most are quite basic ( access to disposables such as gowns, gloves, hats, shoe covers) others were more resource intensive such as specialized retractors etc. I took the time to make list that I can share with any one that is truly interested If you are in a position anywhere in the medical industry to assist please feel to contact me via DM on Instragram , Facebook , LinkedIn or diectly email me at [email protected]. We can work in collaboration with CHUK , practitioners such as nurse Médiatrice Batangana to further enhance surgical care in Rwanda. @CHUKRWANDA | #VisitRwanda | #Kigali | #GlobalHealth | #GlobalSurgery #GlobalMedicine | #HPBRwanda | #SurgeryRwanda | #SurgeryAfrica | #IOWD | #CHUKRwanda | #NursesRock | #HugANurse | #Nurses FYI and fun fact: *CHUK is an abbreviation of the previous French name for University Teaching Hospital Kigali which was Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Kigali (CHUK) (at Kigali, Rwanda) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx5RFipn126/?igshid=eb86689zvs30
