So, I’m in the middle of transferring all my word docs to google drive, as I lost access to MS Word after reinstalling my OS to fix a network issue. My regular Sambastian series is all good and safe (and my last chapter of STTA is done!), but I’ve also been moving my revisions/bonus scraps/other side projects, and I found this AU I’d been working on that I thought I could share a snippet of here.

My main jam when I’m not writing gay Stardew boys is writing paranormal creatures trying to live mundane, human lives, and after watching What We Do in the Shadows (an excellent film), I was inspired to write this au fic of Abby, Seb, and Sam trying to room together as different supernaturals. Obviously, it’s also a Sam/Sebastian love story.

I’m not currently planning on finishing/publishing this to ao3/ffn, but if it’s something anyone would actually be interested in reading more of, please let me know. I’d honestly be more likely to make an effort to finish it if I knew there was some actual interest in it.

Sebastian: Can’t relate.

Shane: Distinguished chicken man. Give him many hot peppers to unlock More Birds. 10/10 would stalk and harass for chickens again

Emily: The only other bachelor who has a bird. Lacking in specific affiliation with them, as she is a lover of all living things, but I applaud her bird-tending ways. 9/10

Haley: A kindly soul who rescues trapped seagulls. No persistent association with birds, but high marks for heroism. 8/10

Elliott: Loves duck feathers, but I’m not going to give him full marks because I’m still mad at him for that time I was watching birds and he walked by and scared them all off. No apology for disturbing the peaceful feeding of our feathered friends. Not even an acknowledgment of his crime. Not a care in the world. Fuck you, Elliott. 6.5/10

Harvey: 6/10 for liking duck feathers as a gift. Seems like the kind of person who would see someone throwing bread to ducks and then lecture them for 10 minutes about healthier duck-snack alternatives.

Abigail: Thinks we should be more like the birds. She’s right. 5/10

Leah: Never specifically mentions birds to my recollection, but is enough of a nature lover that I’m sure she would enjoy seeing a bird. Loses points for being an artist who, as far as we have seen, has not sculpted or painted a bird. You’re wasting your talents, girl. 2/10

Sebastian: A connoisseur of void eggs, but only because he’s an edgelord. Still, he spends so much time on the computer that he has likely posted at least one bird-related meme in his life, so I’m willing to give him some benefit of the doubt here. 1/10

Sam, Alex, Maru: The only thing bird about these kids is that they live in Pelican Town. Y'all didn’t even try. 0.5/10

Happy Bi Visibility Day!

I spent about 11 years questioning my sexuality. During a large chunk of that period I wasn’t even aware that bisexuality was a thing, I thought that all girls just found other girls attractive, and clearly I couldn’t be gay if I liked guys, too.

I started to figure things out around the time I was in university, but at that point I still wasn’t able to accept myself. I didn’t want to identify as bi because I’d never had any experiences with other women, and I was terrified that if I did come out I would somehow realize that I was wrong about being attracted to women, and then I’d look like a big dumb idiot who just lied about being bi for the “attention.”

I’m posting this here because Stardew Valley actually played a small part in my coming out process - I’d met all the villagers, and realized that all of my top picks for spouses were bachelorettes… Leah, Haley, Abigail. My very first choice was actually Jodi but I quickly realized she was not an option, haha. It sounds silly, but it was the first time I’d allowed myself to actually consider the idea of having romantic relationships with women. It was around that time that I began to feel confident enough to be like “yeah, I’m bi” in casual conversation with other fans of the game, and most importantly, to @littleredwritingthings, my actual best friend and #1 support system. ♡
