You are not broken.
I keep seeing the term βbroken littleβ to describe a little who is traumatized or otherwise strongly affected by being hurt by someone they trusted, usually in the context of their relationship with an ex caregiver.
Please ! do not spread this label !
It promotes the idea that simply being scared, untrusting, or emotionally scarred makes someone broken. It makes these littles out to be weak and wrong. Seeing posts about βbroken littleβ things and relating to them imprints the idea on people that they are inherently emotionally damaged beyond repair. This is not the message to give out to a community centered around a coping mechanism, with most of the community already having mental health difficulties outside of any regression related problems.
If your paranoia prevents you from quickly bonding with a caregiver you are not broken.
If you easily feel like nobody wants you even when itβs not true you are not broken.
If you get flashbacks or triggered by little things that others donβt understand you are not broken.
If you are unable to do certain things because of similar past situations that went wrong you are not broken.
If you are traumatized at all you are not broken.
βBroken littlesβ are not a thing. There is no such thing as being βbroken.β The fact that you are reading this right now just proves how strong you are even in your weakest moments. So to everyone in the agere community, please stop using that term.
Regressing because of physical illness is valid
Age regression is talked about with helping to cope with mental illness a lot, like depression, anxiety, bipolar, bpd, ptsd, etc, but I feel like itβs rarely talked about in relation to coping with physical illness which is also a very important side to it.
Physical illnesses, whether temporary or chronic, new or lifelong, are major stressors to a personβs mental health and life overall. Itβs not fun experiencing pain, tiredness, and whatever other symptoms someone may be going through. Feeling lesser than others, feeling held back or excluded, and feeling broken take a toll. Physical illnesses should not be forgotten as something that needs coping with.
Age regression helps with more than just mental illnesses. The emotional damage that physical conditions can cause can also be positively impacted and lessened with regression. On top of that someoneβs outlook on their current state can be changed during regression, being more freeing and happy than negatively focused on their struggle. Donβt forget about littles who regress due to physical illnesses!
I also want to take the time to say that to any littles who are partially/fully disabled in any way: you are completely valid. Itβs hard to deal with disability and youβre so strong for being able to keep going. If you use age regression as a way to make a physically rough day manageable, keep doing it. Just because thereβs an emphasis on mental illness in the agere community does not mean you are any less valid for using it to cope with handling physical issues over directly mental ones.
And to any caregivers with littles who have chronic illnesses/disabilities: youβre so amazing for taking care of them. Being a caregiver is already demanding and these kinds of littles can be even more to handle. Which is perfectly okay of them to be! But it can definitely be harder to care for them. So thank you for doing so, youβre extremely appreciated.
Reminder that you shouldnβt assume someoneβs romantic partner is their caregiver just because theyβre a regressor. Not every age regressor in a relationship has a caregiver, keep that in mind when interacting with others!
Infant Developmental Periods for BabyRes
This post defines what behavior and abilities are associated with which periods of infant development, as according to Dr. Piagetβs sensorimotor stage theory covering 0 to 24 months old. Itβs purpose is for baby regressors to be able to better understand and categorize their own regression. However if you do not follow whatβs said here thatβs also perfectly fine, not even all babies follow this, itβs more of a generalization or average. Also the actions listed are just common examples and each stage may include examples mentioned in previous stages, theyβre not the entire ability of an infant that age.

Forget the little stereotype of being addicted to candy,
I want
pastries
When Iβm regressed to a kid age I get so wondrous. Point things out to me. Make me curious about something. Expose my little mind to positive things around me. Ask me sense-based questions. Show me things to get excited over
All of these fuel my regression even more than babying me when Iβm at that age range
Attention!
For everyone who feels ashamed or is ridiculed for liking/using pacifiers for a sense of security:
Some puppies use pacifiers as a comfort item after being weened, and this behavior can continue into their adulthood. There are fully grown dogs out there who enjoy using pacifiers too, itβs not just you and itβs not just regressors βbeing weirdβ because other animals do it too. Itβs natural to have a comfort item linked to babyhood/childhood and for some that comes in the form of a pacifier. There is nothing wrong with using a pacifier to relax, feel safer, or help you regress!
