i have complicated feelings on the fandom tendency to very loudly assign bisexuality to any sort of fun and flirty character because on one hand it’s really fairly harmless and there are plenty of characters who fit that description who i like to read as bisexual myself but also like, sometimes it does come off as a symptom of society’s tendency to see bisexuality as indicative of a certain level of unseriousness

nonbinary identity gets this treatment too, both in media and in real life. see that one tweet that’s like “i’m probably nonbinary but i’ve got a job rn” for a fairly succinct summary of that lol. there’s this view that fluidity in identity is inherently immature and unprofessional and to be taken seriously as a real adult in society you need to stifle those parts of yourself. and as always fandom is just a reflection of those broader trends

I think what frustrates me the most is a lot of people are dismissing writing as an actual art form that requires skill and effort in favor of mindless stream of consciousness wish fulfillment, but they retain the like uncritical bibliophilia thats really popular on the internet? like no actually I don’t think reading through less nonsense makes you smarter or widens your perspective or makes you more empathetic I think those benefits come explicitly from meaningful critical thinking both on the author and readers part actually

His house was destroyed, his education was taken from him, and he has become the sole provider for his family of 8 through fundraising on tumblr. I want you to think about that weight. To be made responsible for the survival of your whole family as a teenager, and for this to depend on getting and maintaining the attention of people in the global north every day for years.

Israel has systematically worked to disable the population, and to destroy all means for disabled people to survive. Nader's father has experienced his health conditions become increasingly severe. He has stents in the main arteries of his heart due to blocked arteries. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer and needs surgery to remove a tumor. However, medical evacuation from Gaza is extremely expensive. Coordination costs can be over $12,000 per person, and Nader's father cannot make this journey alone.

Earlier today, Nader's father had to be brought to the Intensive Care Unit at their nearest hospital. He is now on life support. The systematic destruction of Gaza's healthcare system has left 94% of hospitals destroyed, and none of the remaining 36 are able to operate at full capacity. There are medicine and medical supply shortages. In this state, healthcare bills for this care are even more expensive. I don't want to talk about the 1000 days because I died a thousand times over during those days. They ripped my soul from me, took my sanity, and killed everything beautiful I saw. It's just a number the world talks about today and forgets tomorrow, even though tomorrow will be worse because it's 1001, meaning tomorrow there will be death, hunger, fear, poverty, and oppression. Nothing will change except that we keep getting worse and worse and worse. The whole world is showing sympathy today, but tomorrow they'll forget, even as our extermination and killing continue.
