We’re just told theyre in love but we never actually see why or understand what they even like about each other? Jack is the one who saves Elizabeth from drowning at the beginning of the first movie, and who also removes the corset she’s wearing that is both literally and figuratively suffocating her. It’s Jack who starts her life of piracy. It’s Jack who not only acknowledges that she is a true pirate, but gives her the title of Pirate King because he votes for her, and not himself. They’re the two who very clearly acknowledge one another for who they both are, and have the most chemistry out of any of the characters. They even allude to their relationship by comparing it to the sea goddess Calypso and Davy Jones, with the legend going that Davy Jones was in love with a woman as changing as the sea. They even call Elizabeth Calypso while Jack seeks immortality like Davy Jones. They should have been the lead romance. In this essay I will -
