People have been talking about the recently resurfaced newton concept art a lot and I really like some of the concepts in there, however how some are commenting along the lines of "oh that's weird why would they ever think of that" for some of them and that's sort of the point of concept art.
In the early stages of designing a character, you gotta just. Throw stuff onto the page and see what people think. Once you get feedback, then you can start refining those concepts. The fact that straightjacket or lobotomy newton didn't get past the concept stage meant other people thought the same.
However I do think the zappy electric power ghost/possessed concepts being thrown out is a freaking crime.

I feel like given manglewood’s aesthetic marlon would be at least decently older than newton? and that’s kinda why I’m someone who doesn’t really care for stagelight. I do still think newton’s an adult but not on the same maturity level
i say marlons like 50-60 something and newtons either a child or a young adult, like 20 probably (in sackperson years of course)
You know, I realized something. As much as I love the concept of eves asylum, I feel like they didn’t execute it the right way. I know children games and stuff. But eating socks……. The “mad man laugh” sound effects……. Come on……… Most stereotypical shit I am not going to sugarcoat it. And it’s like even worse that they made higginbotham like completely cured after the virus gone away. ESPECIALLY IN ASYLUMS, where you usually spend your whole entire life because you are deemed “Unfit/Unstable to live in society”, your mental illness shouldn’t just “be cured”. You can’t cure most mental illnesses, you heal and learn to live with it. I’m not a professional, but as someone who’s been in these places many times before and even was in LONG TERM FACILITIES , it just really isn’t executed the best and the safer option would probably just have made Eves asylum a normal hospital at this point if they gonna make something curable like that. I don’t know though. I tend to hyperfixate on small stuff like that.

will admit that I’ve neglected acknowledging this properly myself but as far as its issues and poor rep go, Eve’s Asylum isn’t regarded enough at all. I think it says enough that they call it an asylum
on the topic of Eve, she is far from the only character in the fandom to have this issue but I see her watered down a lot to just being a medical nurse when her work entails her patients require care mentally as well

Admitibly I am one of the stereotypical Newton fans /hj but its out of a place of that they coulda done so much more with him if they had the time...with all the concepts we had we were shown that he was gonna be a more villainous and unstable sort, an I miss it dearly,, (although accidently guessing the lobotomy thing correct in a shitty fanfiction was. Poetic. In a sense,)
All of LBP3 coulda been better but I feel Newton's the biggest example of it ya know? Also I uh. Never played Lbp1. I played 2 and Karting but, just never had the chance to play 1

leaning towards unrelated but I think more fans of lbp should get into both tearaway and modnation racers!!! they both have similar gimmicks in their respective ways
- tearaway is another game by media molecule. it also adopts a craft aesthetic in the form of papercrafts, and while it’s a very different game it’s still a very charming platformer! the character designs are very fun, and you can customize both your player character and parts of the world around you!
(now see if you can tell who this is if you couldn’t already)
- modnation racers was made by the same studio as lbp karting, which was made to be its sequel. it also adopted the play create share system the same way lbpk did but with even more customization for karts. it’s much more challenging than lbpk but very rewarding once you get a groove! the characters are also designed like wacky vinyl figurines which is very unique
I hope you don’t mind the tangent! I’m hoping this helps recruit more fans of these games as they’re often overlooked despite having similar personalities (in a way) to lbp

- lbp1: uncle jalapeño. insane name. I don’t have much to note about lbp1 I need to replay it first
- lbp2: …larry davinci no diff (I haven’t drawn him in months. I post more about avalon but he’s secretly not even my top 1. you can tell who this is) while the rest of the alliance is familial to me he’s always been my real favorite
as far as dlc,
move pack: cakeling no diff. steakhouse is my favorite sackbot
cross controller: captain wiseduck
- lbp vita: otis and the megabrain (unrelated coaster valley’s track is the best intmusic in vita easily.) hm to ms. sunshine and cuck flounder. ngl vita had the best characters as much as I’m connected to lbp2’s
- lbp karting: don doubtworthy. he’s awful (positive)
- lbp3: beta vera if she counts, otherwise el jeff. dead serious about this. as far as main curators/characters go I liked papal mache, and swoop was my favorite of the three heroes
- including prehistoric moves for the sake of my mutual: terrence??? he’s the only character I remember

I don’t know if this counts as a confession so sorry but I personally think Factory of a Better Tomorrow is the BEST world in the entire little big planet franchise.
Clive Handforth is the best curator and I like his design a lot. He’s very funny to look at… I like the way he’s written too although I have some criticism for his whole shabang during and after Eve’s Asylum but they’re not game ruining for me.
The music is SO well made oh my god Richard Jacques absolutely cooked. It makes me feel like i’ve just been accepted to a horribke and and i’m now realizing that my life won’t be anything but a cycle. I love the jazzband track and all the robotic tracks.
The whole themeing of the levels are perfect too!!! OH MY GODdd

I used to play them constantly back then… Especially Clive S. (Yah… Let’s just call it Clive.exe…) EVERY SINGLE DAY BRAH… IT USED TO BE MY RELIGION… Tho I was in denial about it being his “Evil Twin Stepbrother”… LIKE BRO THE CLIVE CHASING US IN THE LEVEL IS THE REAL CLIVE AND WILL FOREVER BE THE REAL CLIVE IN MY BOOKS…. Also Sackboy.unzipped always made me stim… Sackboy.exe might have been the reason why I’m this way… I EVEN LOVE THE NICHE ONES LIKE IMG112b AND ALL OF THE LBP GHOST SITUATIONS. DUDE, I USED TO TRY TO GET LBO GHOST GLITCHES WHEN I WAS A KID, IT WAS SO FUNNY… I also loved the crimsonfang levels, esp Jeff the killer and the revenge one…. I liked the tails doll levels, which somehow soloed sonic.exe levels to a high agree… LIKE LMFAOOOOOOO… I also REALLLLLLLLLLY like the Slenderman levels… Ig also the An oni levels… even tho those were only in Japanese and the only languages I knew back then was German and English to a degree… BUT PLSSSS THE CREEPYPASTAS RAISED ME BRAH I CANNOT BE THE ONLY ONE…
