Sebastian scrunched his nose but chuckled anyway. âI have my limits on what I consider to be able to pull off, and wearing a wig is definitely not one of those. So, no.â He grinned at him and squeezed his hand back, actually liking their playful banter. âCanât afford to lose any hand, Sam. Theyâre useful for several things.â He winked at him, then he spotted a place where they could have something hot to drink, which at this point he felt he could use. âI have a couple more days before I have to return to work, so Iâd prefer not to spend them freezing my ass in New York again.â They got to the cafe and he looked at him with a raised brow as he held the door open for him. âTogether, huh? Sounds nice. Plus, thereâs no way you could ever get bored with me. Maybe when weâre over there we could get you a couple of good looking girls to entertain you.â The bell sounded above their heads as they made their way inside.
âI would honestly ask exactly what you think that hand is useful for but I have a feeling youâd actually answer and Iâm not sure my delicate sensibilities can handle it,â Sam teased, surprised at the quick way the blush caught his face at the wink. It had to be the cool winter wind, he thought, nuzzling down into the rim of his coat. Sam followed Sebastian to the little shop and thanked him as he walked in, reluctantly letting go of the otherâs hand as he unzipped his coat inside the warm building. âI have to agree, the last thing in the world you are is boring,â he said, rubbing his hands together as he rolled his eyes. âAre you talking about hiring strippers for me because Iâm pretty sure thatâs every heterosexual dudes dream. But come on, if weâre going together, I donât want to leave you out of the fun. Maybe Iâll show off my own stripper moves for you,â he joked, going to the counter so he could order himself a coffee.Â

Sebastian chuckled and also started to walk away from the store, his hands shoved inside the pockets of his coat. âNevertheless, Iâm sure my kids and yours would be good friends, you know, were they to coincide at preschool or something like that.â He raised a brow at the people passing by who looked at Sam like that, and he quickly held onto the guyâs hand. They were supposed to be boyfriend, right? âIf you say Daenerys Iâll smack your face, Samuel. Iâd say Iâm more of a Jaime Lannister.â He steered Sam out of the sidewalk and they crossed over to the other side. âI see your face every day of the week. What difference would a couple of days make? But donât worry. We donât have to go anywhere if you donât want to. It was just a suggestion.â
âDude, Dany is the hottest and best queen to ever exist. Iâm just saying, being Dany would totally be a compliment. Plus I think you could pull off that white silver hair thing.â Sam smirked, looking down at their hands and while he didnât say it, it was funny to him to think how comfortable it felt. It had to be since theyâd been roommates for so long. This boyfriend act they were putting on didnât feel awkward or uncomfortable. It felt easy and he didnât hate it. âOh, Jamie.. That means youâre going to have to lose one of your hands. Hopefully not this one,â he said, squeezing their entwined fingers, âsince itâs busy keeping me warm.â Hurrying across the street with Sebastian, he smirked at his comment. âFair enough. And I do have a pretty awesome face. No, no.. Iâd actually really like that if you donât have to rush back to New York after the holiday. I think itâd be fun to spend more time together just the two of us.â

Sebastian chuckled. âWell, if thereâs anything I could thank my mom for, it was her flawless taste when it came to make sure Iâll look my best when we went to church, or visiting the relatives or entertaining guests. You know, the whole âthis her is my beautiful boy, my only sonâ and so on and so forth nonsense. Nevertheless, it did teach me how to look effortlessly flawless at times like these, you know⌠bringing my boyfriend to meet my parents and all that.â He wiggled his eyebrows at him and smiled. âAlright, alright. I see your point. Jon Snow. The man with the thick fur coat.â He scoffed and laughed softly, then his lip turned to a sly grin. âWhy wait until next Christmas? We could get tickets to a tropical island right now. Maybe we could make it there for New Yearâs Eve. What do you think?â
Shaking his head, Sam shoved his hands into his pockets and started to walk away from the store with a big smirk on his face. âI really look forward to seeing you with kids one day. Youâll have them in little three piece suits, I bet, while mine are going to be running around in yoda onesies. Failed parent, I will be.â He said in his best yoda impression, garnering the look of a passing couple. Luckily his blush was hidden by already flushed cheeks. âIf Iâm Jon Snow, who does that make you?â He asked, perking an eyebrow. Sam hadnât meant to stop walking in the middle of the crowd but as soon as he did and someone bumped into his from his sudden stop, he quickly apologized and moved out of the way. âMighty bold of you to assume you wonât be sick of me by then,â he smirked. âI mean, are you sure youâd want to spend all that time with me? I donât know if youâve noticed but I can be kind of annoying.â

Sebastian had truly felt that saying out loud that Sam was his boyfriend was weird, but nothing compared to what it felt like to see him by his side when he woke up that morning. It was even weirder, but a good kind of weird, oddly enough. Since he was used to his roommateâs morning routine there were really no major surprises there, so the time between waking up and when they finally made it downstairs to have breakfast, hands twined like they had agreed so everyone would see, wasnât long. He was happy they decided to leave the house after breakfast, and after promising his mom they would be back just in time for lunch, and when Sam put that scarf around his neck he chuckled. âSam, come on⌠Everything looks good on me. I guess Iâm used to it. Are you too cold? We could get an extra coat if you are. Call it a Christmas present, babeâŚâ He winked at him and giggled.
âWell, youâre not wrong there. You certainly have this ability to pull off anything you put on.â Sam rolled his eyes playfully and pulled the scarf back off, using it around his own neck. For a moment, he let himself enjoy the feeling of the warmth where his skin had been. âLike this whole suit thing you have going on. Are you just trying to impress me or do you usually dress up when youâre home for the holidays?â He turned to look in the mirror before deciding against the scarf. It didnât have any cartoon characters on it at all, and he couldnât possibly walk around in something that didnât scream that he was a Jedi. âNo, donât be silly. Iâm fine. This baby has seen me through many a winter storm. Do you remember last winter when we got fourteen inches of snow? This puppy made sure I didnât freeze to death. Iâm just not big into the cold, I guess. If we need to pretend youâre my boyfriend next year, we should go somewhere tropical for Christmas. Iâve never been to the beach.â

Westerville Arrival
For as much as he liked to to fancy himself a superhero of comic book proportion, one thing Sam was deathly afraid of was flying. He hadnât told Sebastian though, not wanting to appear silly or whatever in front of his roommate. He wasnât even exactly sure why it mattered that he didnât. Surprisingly, the flight to Ohio wasnât as bad as Sam expected. He and Sebastian had talked the whole time and somehow, Samâs fears just drifted away as they were high in the sky. After picking up Sebastianâs bad from baggage claim â Sam had just brought a backpack as a carry on with his clothes stuff in it â they walked together out of the airport. Ever since they got off the plane, heâd had a sneaking suspicion about something and he had to know. âOkay, so I need to ask,â Sam said, âWere you talking through the whole flight to get my mind off of the fear of flying that I thought I was really good at hiding?â
The moment he even mentioned they were flying to Ohio, Sebastian could see it in Samâs eyes, that fear of flying he didnât know it existed before. He even suggested they could make the trip by the train, although it would take much longer to get there, instead of the couple of hours of flight, but Sam was adamant about making it by plane and so they did. When they were finally there picking up their lugagge and walking out of the airport to get to the rental where Sebastian had already booked them a car for their staying, he turned to look at him and smiled. âI think I can read your expressions very well, Sam, especially after living together all these years. I figured it would be a good way to keep your mind off it. Did I talk too much?â They went to get a car and soon were placing all their lugagge inside the trunk.

An Invite
Sebastian grunted as he took another look at the message displayed on his phone screen, as he stood just at the entrance of the apartment building where he had lived for the past couple of years. When he first got to New York to study Journalism at NYU he had lived on campus for about six months before he moved to an apartment on the outside, for which case he needed to find a roommate. And he found one in Sam Evans. They had formed a solid friendship, which was a lot to say, since Sebastian wasnât particulary known for getting too attached to people; but theirs was a sort of simbiotic relationship, in which each one benefit from the other, and that had been a perfect living situation to have, at least until now.Â
He sighed and pocketed his phone before he entered the elevator and pressed the button to the top floor, and not too long after that he was fumbling with the keys on the doorknob and got it open. âHoney, Iâm home!â he said with a chuckle, since he loved to tease his roommate with little innuendos like that. He was determined to enjoy whatever was left of the day, despite the annoying news he had just received on the phone. âSamââ he called out.Â
It wasnât easy to âget your life togetherâ as his mom said, when you didnât have a clear direction of where you wanted to go. For the most part, Sam was content with his life. He worked a few different odd jobs, including the hours he spent at the comic book store that kept him very busy. Days off were a luxury that he wasnât typically afforded without spending at least a couple hours at one of his jobs. Today was one of those rare days however, and Sam planned on enjoying every second of it. With an empty cereal bowl sitting on the floor beside the couch, Sam laid on his back, legs draped over the arm of the couch, as his acoustic guitar laid against him. He plucked random chords as he stared over at a cartoon playing on the television set.Â
Hearing Sebastianâs voice, Sam didnât move but called back, âIn here!â As the other male walked into the room, Sam plucked out the chords of the Spongebob Squarepants theme song and then looked up. âWhoooooo lives in a pineapple under the sea?â And then he waited as the tv continued to play the tune. Making a face at Sebastian, he said, âThereâs where youâre supposed to say, "Spongebob Squarepants,â but noticing the look on his roommates face, Sam perked a brow and sat up, âYou okay?"Â

Let It Snow

Aside from the occasional bowl of cereal around noon when he finally pulled himself out of bed, Sam wasnât used to having breakfast - and certainly not used to having it around a big table with people sitting all around. His parents usually worked opposite hours and someone was either racing to get his brother and sister ready (usually him), hurrying out of the house (usually his mom), or falling asleep (usually his dad). But that morning, heâd woken up earlier than he was used to and had to remind himself he wasnât back in their apartment. They were far away from the hustle and bustle of New York City but when heâd opened his eyes and saw Sebastian in bed beside him, he quickly remembered. Once breakfast had finished and heâd helped put up some decorations around the house, Sam was thankful to get some time away. A little shopping excursion left him and Sebastian wandering by themselves through the city. Sam saw a scarf as they passed by a store and stopped, âHey Seb.â Once he turned, he hung it around his best friendâs neck. âThat looks good on you. How are you not freezing?â
